You must have not seen a veyron in person.

No I have...but aesthetically its ugly and its an aerodynamic pig. You dont need 1200 HP to go 270 mph.

^ u sir are stupid... so you're telling me that you know what "you" need better than the world class engineers that designed it? Also, the veyron wasn't built for pure speed and nothing else.. it was built for comfort and luxury as well (hence leather seats, a radio, and air conditioning).. you can't knock something so beautiful and geniously designed until you design something better..

Well im no engineer so I wont pass judgement on the car's aerodynamic abilities , I just know the car is FAR from ugly in person.

Does Roger Ebert make movies?

Design is a subjective thing. Im not stupid because i think that the Veyron is ugly. And you arent stupid because because you think its beautiful.

I am an engineer and it doesnt take a genious to know that that car doesnt slide through the air very easily.

A car cabable of going that fast needs a ridiculous amount of downforce to be generated to keep it on the road. This is directly related to aerodynamic efficiency. So yes, it's far less aerodynamic than a standard production car which doesn't needs that crazy downforce. Just like an F1 car isn't very aeordyamic compared to a prius for the exact same reasons.

You must be one terrible engineer. Factoring in downforce and air building up in density exponentially at higher speeds, you damn well need that kind of hp.

It's not just downforce...you can make a car that produces downforce without it being an aerodynamic pig.

There is more to downforce than drag...there is a constant called the Oswald efficiency factor which is a number that basically rates how well air moves around the surface. I'd imagine this number on a veyron is very low...a number closest to 1 without going over is best as the oef is in the denominator of the drag equation.

High downforce and good aerodynamics are not mutually exclusive.

And as far as f1 cars go they are aerodynamically designed to do a task...to corner. Top end isnt a large concern. The veyron uses it's downforce for another reason...to counteract the lift caused by a cars natural shape. So that argument doesn't hold water. Two different purposes = two different designs.
