True Grit... Have you seen it yet?

I have heard great reviews about True Grit. I saw the original and was only semi interested in the movie. But it got 95% on RT... I may have to check it out. I was wondering who here has seen it?

Yes, I have seen it and it's very good. Maybe a bit long for some, and not necessarily enough violence for my taste. But watch it for the cool western sets and effects and great great acting by everyone. I actually laughed a lot during it. Go see the Kings Speech too.

I personally liked it, but the 3 people I went with didn't care for it. Too long and boring for them. It's not a brainless violent/funny movie that people normally like, but it was good.

I wouldn't give it a "95%" but more like an 80. 4/5 stars maybe. It WAS a bit too long and some scenes were just unnecessary. Some of the acting/plot twists could have been better too.

Plot twists?? The movie is 40 years old! What did you not see coming?

To the OP, this version is much better than the old. I thought the acting was fantastic, especially by Hailee Steinfeld, as this is her first full length movie. I would've liked to have seen Josh Brolin a bit more as well. But Jeff Bridges was great as Rooster. It's a definite must see IMO if you're a Western fan.

I haven't seen the original nor did I know there was one... I'm sure there are others in the same boat. You really could see the "twists" coming though. No real surprises.

I saw it and loved it. Definitely not the gruesome killing and shooting that the trailers make you think it is. It also has more comedy and humor than I ever expected.

Great acting and a really good move. I hate long movies and didn't think it was long at all..in fact I thought it wasn't long enough as I wished the ending had more to it.
