telemarketers calling me on my cellphone

I get these annoying telemarketing phone calls on my cell everyday. Is there a way to block these calls?

Here's what I did, although I was switching carriers anyhow, which made it easier.

1. change number
2. sign up for google voice
3. only give out google voice number
4. turn on call screening
5. check "Ask unknown callers to say their name"
6. mark telemarketing calls that still get through as spam

I didn't bother with the do not call list, as I suspect unscrupulous telemarketers probably use it to get numbers to call. At least if I were a telemarketer, and IDGAF, that would be the first place I checked to get numbers.

After putting my cell and home numbers on it I've not received one "cold" sales call. I will still get sales calls from companies that "legitimately" have my number - such as dealers calling to offer me extended warranties. I also would advise against starting an account with Office Depot, as the minimal savings are far overshadowed about the once-a-week calls asking me how my highlighter supply is doing while rambling about the unmatched advantages of their new non-jam paper (which has existed for as long as I can remember...) despite explicitly stating I wish not to be called. At the next one I am cancelling my account.

Yup. The best was the guy that kept trying to get me to open an account despite me telling him that I had one, provided him with my account number, and showed him an invoice of things I previously ordered. Which had highlighers on it. The response "well if you open an account today I can save you 35 cents on a highlight order"

I HAVE AN ACCOUNT JACKASS

I use donotcall.gov and haven't receive any cold calls in years.

You could also try the Seinfield method:

Seinfeld: Hello
Telemarketer: Hi, would you be interested in switching over to TMI Long Distance Service?
Seinfeld: Oh, Gee, I-I can't talk right now. Why don't you give me your home number and I'll call you later?
Telemarketer: Umm, I'm sorry, we aren't allowed to do that.
Seinfeld: Oh, I guess you don't want people*calling you at home?
Telemarketer: No...
Seinfeld: Well, now you know how I feel.

Do you have an android phone? They have an application to block any number you want. Very easy and you don't have to sign up for it. Works great for me. Not sure if other phones have this, but would assume they do.

All you have to do is answer and request to be placed on the Do Not Call List.

BE NICE ABOUT IT

If you are a rude jackass they won't take you off - just send your lead back in to recycle it; they won't care if you get called again.

Be patient, let them pitch if they have to, and just nicely request to be placed on the do not call list.
