Call on the guys at the Ticket Clinic. If anyone can do anything about this, it's them. At worst, they can make it so it won't get on your record but you may still have to pay the fine. I don't know how they pull it off but they do :

Sucks bro... hopefully it won't be too bad.

Cleveland has a novel way of dealing with speeders though... just don't fix potholes. That way you really can't go over the speed limit (or at the speed limit for that matter) unless you want to f up your tires/wheels/suspension. It works.

It was in a 65 not a 60 so 35 and over is considered reckless driving in cali.

No.

Here's the CA Vehicle code definition of reckless driving:

V C Section 23103 Reckless Driving
Reckless Driving

23103. (a) A person who drives a vehicle upon a highway in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving.

(b) A person who drives a vehicle in an offstreet parking facility, as defined in subdivision (c) of Section 12500, in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving.

(c) Except as otherwise provided in Section 40008, persons( ) convicted of the offense of reckless driving shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail for not less than five days nor more than 90 days or by a fine of not less than one hundred forty-five dollars ($145) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment, except as provided in Section 23104 or 23105.

Amended Sec. 19, Ch. 739, Stats. 2001. Effective January 1, 2002.
Amended Sec. 16, Ch. 682, Stats. 2007. Effective January 1, 2008.
Amended Sec. 2, Ch.685, Stats. 2010. Effective January 1, 2011.
The 2010 amendment added the italicized material, and at the point(s) indicated, deleted the following “ Persons ”.

The CHP didn't write 100mph because extra penalties kick in:

V C Section 42000.1 Driving in Excess of 100 Miles per Hour
Driving in Excess of 100 Miles per Hour

42000.1. Notwithstanding Section 42001, every person convicted of an infraction for a violation described in subdivision (b) of Section 22348 shall be punished by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500).

Added Ch. 980, Stats. 1983. Effective January 1, 1984.

Get yourself a lawyer and fight the speeding ticket. If the CHP didn't get you with a radar gun, then he had to be pacing you. Also, the cop who wrote the ticket wasn't the cop who observed you speeding. GET A LAWYER.

if it wasn't radar, then he wasn't pacing. If he had enough time to be travelling 75 for a mile, there's no way he was pacing either.

Speeding ticket: Expect between $350-$450 if it's not reckless. That's what mine was about a year and a half ago.

I got a speeding ticket last year, although it wasnt as bad as yours 80 in 65.
He didnt check the radar box (was pacing) and as a result, i wrote to the court and went to trial.
Before the trial, I asked the cop to bring validation of calibration of his patrol car at the time.
Went down that path... won the case cause the cop didnt bring any information.
Didnt use a lawyer.
anways, good luck with it, 99 in a 90 is tough.

you're pretty much gonna get raped by the long dick of the law on this one... in florida going 30mph over the speed limit is as bad as it can get when it comes to speeding tickets.

30+mph over speed limit = suspended license for one year + they tow your car onsite + possible jail time if they think it was reckless.

ive never gotten one but ive gotten a way worse one...a racing ticket......(was not racing!!!! it was a huge group of cars going really fast!!! ) :'( thankfully the judge dismissed it cus the case kept getting pushed back and after 4 months the police officer just didnt show, so all i had to pay were court fees. i came to find out AFTER it was dismissed that the reason the cop didnt show up was because he had no proof that i was going the "alleged" speed.

To OP:

A) 100+ is just 100+ in Cali. Although cops will lie all the time to get you reckless
B) Just fight by written declaration and flood them with paperwork / keep asking for continuance as much as allowed. Sure, you'll have to front the bail first but if you win it's a great feeling
C) Traffic school
D) If you got the dough, lawyer up.

Just got back from Traffic court this morning. The seatbelt ticket is a VC violation correct, if so appear at arraingment and they will lower the fine significantly on the other if you are eligible see if traffic school works. Bottom line if you want a trial, whether in person or written declaration they only have court dates of certain days for certain jurisdictions to ensure that that jurisdiction will be present or can reply. As fas as speed judgment goes, all officers attend a training class which certifies they can judge speeds within 2 mph. Saw that agruement several times this morning and it did not work. Bottom line IMO the tickets in Cali are a tax nothing more it justs depends on what amount you choose. I fought my ticket and lost and had to pay $114 for a toll road violation even though I have a transponder and account, the damn thing malfunctioned, I had a letter from the toll roads stating that and he still fined me. I would not expect too much, oh and there was someone there from some ticket representing agency and he got the same as everyone else just agreed to traffic shool and got extensions for people, basically knew what to say to get the extensions etc.. He did not do any better than anyone else for his cleints one of which was a 86 in a 65 which he pleaded for trraffic school for his client, bail amount was around $400 including fees and traffic school.

wat

It's only a couple inches wide. It's not like the seat which covers your whole back and backside. And it's not like you're putting on a sweater.

Anyway, sucks but GL anyway.

Damn that sucks man. But be happy your in cali at least. Here in az 21 over the limit, or 86 on highway, is instant criminal ticket, impounding of the vehicle, and jail if the officer feels like taking you in. Dont ask how i know.

Honestly this sucks but sleep well at night you got lucky.

I got pulled over when I was 18 on the 134(right after 101) for going 105mph, it was 1AM no cars. I had cruise control set at 90mph(seriously). Cop pulled me over and I right away admitted I was speeding. Cop came back with a ticket for 105mph, I was furious!! Knowing that anything after 100mph turns into a two point reckless ticket. I calmly explained to the cop I had cruise control set at 90mph. His tone completely changed and he replied with "hey kid you want me to ruin your life." Something Ill never forget, that son of a bitch. He then explained hes going to tow my car. I signed the damn paper, went on my way, so mad. I got a lawyer and got the ticket dismissed. GREATEST feeling with him sitting there, I had the biggest grin looking at him. Walking out, I whispered nice attempt at ruining my life. Before I get flamed, there were absolutely no cars on freeway like I said.

Get a lawyer. If you want the best traffic lawyer in town, pm me.
