Thoughts on American Top Gear?
Saw a bit of it the other night and i have a thought....they suck balls, excuse my french
There seems to be little to no chemistry between those guys and the talk comes across as too prepared/planned/scripted. Just my 0.02c. The original guys make great entertainment... Last edited by MonteCarloM3; 05-23-2011 at 02:39 PM.. |

Stopped watching after the first episode. In fact, I didn't even finish the first episode. I don't think you can find a group of hosts with as much chemistry and humor as UK's version, but they definitely could have done better than this group!

It got better throughout the season, and will come back for another try later this summer.

I saw the first episode and found it nearly unwatchable but I Tivo the show anyway and the last couple of episodes were pretty entertaining. I liked the one with the trucks in Alaska.

All 3 of them are not good at it at all. The BBC needs to stop selling this show to other countries. They will never strike lightning twice. The OG TG is unique in every way. It can not be reproduced. These 3 from the US version are all decent guys I am sure, but they do not work together at all. They are one dimemsional and have nocomic timing or an ability to sound interesting or entertaining. They do not compliment one another in any way, nor do they play off eachothers strengths and weaknesses like the Jezza, Hamster, and Slow do.
This US version was pretty much a carbon copy(done poorly) of several shows from the UK TG, as far as the stunts, challenges, and bits they did. Nothing original, and nothing cool was done the entire season.

I would have said everything above this, (it sucks) but others already said it.
It could have been so big.

Its not just the chemistry. It's the negativity and slapstick method to some of their rambunctious comedy. The reviews where they tell you the bad things. Even if they are embellished. To be successful, they would have to be allowed to tear bad cars a new one on TV. And you can bet they are not allowed.

Watch the 1st season of TG UK and the results are eerily similar...their current hosts are not the originals... as for the show, it is decent, if not hard to watch at times (due to awkward chemistry which editing doesn't do much to help), but in the end, episodes continued to improve as the season went on, got picked up for another season, and it's more automotive content on TV, rather than another singing contest or race around the world or otherwise preposterous "reality" show. And one doesn't have to suffer through Clarkson
