I personally love the iPhone and would not switch. I think no matter when you get one, a better one is always on the horizon so stop worrying about that.

I like the Verizon being able to have the iPhone act as a hotspot for up to 5 other devices, pretty sweet. Too bad you can't multitask with the internet while calling though. If they have unlimited data plans, that would make the phone for sure.

My girlfriend just got the Droid X and it is pretty neat, I really like it as well. There are really a number of phones you can go with and nobody can say for sure if it is better or worse than any of the other smartphones right now.

rumored to still be the 4 but just a few changes, so most likely 4GS not 5

the only addition I've heard is the addition on NFC, which would be pretty cool if they do some of the stuff they have pattens for

I have a 3GS, and then work got us all new blackberrys.. Fml. If I could throw the blackberry away, I would! But they would just give me a new one this means that I will have to allow my plan on the iPhone run out and then make the BB my only phone. At this point I might just shoot myself, as life will have gotten TOO bad...

Really? In the course of the last year and a half on Verizon, I've really only needed to do that a handful of times. I agree, it is a great feature. But the trade off on network quality (at least in the DC area) just wasn't worth it.

i agree with prince, it's an epic fail because they're also toting the hot spot feature....

The hot spot feature very quickly becomes a moot point when people are using it and that phone rings....

I've had all iPhones, I always buy a newer one when I can sell the one I have for more, and have always used T-Mobile (no 3G, but <$30/mo. and excellent quality/reception).

Ehh I wanted to switch from ATT to verizon when I heard this, but so far verizon has proven to be nothing but crap. Where I live i get better service with ATT and I've had just about enough with verizon's customer "service"

When droids came out at first, I even really didn't like my iphone as much and couldn't wait to switch to verizon and get a droid.. til my gf got the htc incredible. it has awful battery life (it drains from 100% to 18% overnight on idle, we've switched the battery, factory reset, everything) and she wants it replaced. We go to customer service, and instead of helping some earring-wearing punk flat out tells her "keep your droid it's better. i have a droid. no don't get a blackberry i charge mine three times a day, your droid is better.. blah blah, the battery drains cuz its ~SO POWERFUL~ have you tried unplugging the charger and plugging it back in when its full? have you tried this App Killer program?" (this is when i interject and say we looked it up and google's own development team doesn't approve of any app killer program, and it actually wastes more resources) "no way they're wrong!" Seriously verizon service guy? You're telling me the people that made your phone's OS are wrong? Worst service ever..

One thing i did manage to get out of them was that the verizon version is "specifically tailored" to verizon. meaning you'll probably get all the bloatware crap verizon puts on their phones like the pay-to-use VZ navigator (versus droid's free google maps, or ATT iphone's free map app or mapquest app), un-uninstallable skype, flickr, and other programs, and somehow they'll suck all the goodness out of it.

i know in some areas verizon has better reception, but i would never switch to verizon just for this phone.. i'm okay with ATT or i'll go back to a blackberry if I gotta..

sorry I kinda ranted, but the girlfriend's been getting on MY nerves with all these complains, so I figure I should relay them to you all if you're thinking of switching to verizon just for this phone and have some vendetta against ATT

yes as a PHONE service, and for making PHONE CALLS verizon is, hands down, the best.

But the iPhone is everything BUT a great Phone

If you CANNOT make a Phone call and be using data at the same time... then why the hell would you even get an iPhone then?

It's a complete waste...

Verizon is perfect as a secondary phone to make phone calls...

but you'd need to carry another smartphone with you to use for data

@persian54, I see your point. But I think for each person it's a balancing act. I like the iPhone (form factor, FaceTime, great integration with Outlook, etc), but I have to a have phone that doesn't drop calls - and I don't want to carry and pay for a second phone. But I've also been more than pleased with Verizon's data service on my Droid. Is it as fast as AT&Ts? Nope. But does it work when I travel to bumf*ck Missouri and Iowa? Yep.

I'm looking to upgrade as well but from what I've heard it's gonna be the 4GS that's coming out and not the iphone 5. iphone 5 will be sometimes next year (maybe spring).
