How close to the "Production Date" usually results in an allocation getting moved to the next MY?

Is the 2025 LCI August date when the cars hit the lot (i.e. a 2024 Allocation needs shipped out months before August?)

The August date is the Start of Production (SOP) date. Cars usually show up on dealer lots ~2-3 months later (in the US).

Is the G45 coming to the US this year? I thought it would spend a year in Europe first and we'd get it in 2026?

Was at my dealer yesterday and they actually just had a rep in with the new x2. De badged etc - those are coming very soon (haven’t been following this car)

Anyways - I asked my SA if he asked the guy about the x3. He did … and he said as of now his best guess is we see it in October.

Wow, that means we should see a full unveiling very soon.

I dunno. If I recall correctly, they unveiled the LCI x5 early 2023 with first deliveries in April. So a summer unveiling is my guess.

The MY24 LCI X5 began production in April 2023. Those lucky enough that their dealership has their vehicles trucked in vs. going by train (West Coast) from Spartanburg received them ASAP instead of the 3-4 weeks.

The new G45 is set to begin production this coming August and deliveries will be immediate. I don't recall when the pre-LCI G01 began production, but I drove home a MY19 in late May 2018.

I wanted a 2025 ICE Macan. Since it’s now only EV, I’ll continue buying X3 M40i’s. I hope it looks as good as the X1 and X2 styling. I will take a look at the new Q5 in 2025, but the engine usually loses the B58 battle.

Where did you hear that (EV Macans)? I understood they were to offer both ICE and EV versions for a few years.

Yea but the current ICE is not getting the makeover the new EV got. So it’s the old car is I think the point of the post

My wife is no longer considering the Macan 4 (base) as it starts $15,000 Canadian more than we expected and cannot even be equipped with PTV Plus (torque vectoring e-differential).

In any case, she is still considering the ICE Macan (base, as S would start much higher too and most CPOs don't even come with PTV Plus) and this new X3 (G45), either in the xdrive30 or 30e guise.

Basing it on the current 30e pricing, the BMW X3 PHEV (with desired features) may be priced similar to the ICE Macan we configured but of course there are advantages and disadvantages (maybe very little of those if built by Toyota) owning a PHEV.

Is it true that to buy extended warranty, BMW Canada will require the vehicle to be serviced at authorized dealerships?

We do not tend to replace our cars until at least seven years (current cars are 12 and 13 years old now, one was bought new, the other off a friend) and I understand the depreciation buying new is huge on any premium or luxury cars.

How reliable are BMW PHEVs especially for the first production year, knowing these components are covered for eight years anyway?

How often do you have to bring your BMWs for servicing based on mileage driven, would it be around once a year or is it possible to go once every two years?

The ICE Macan's PTV Plus is also brake-based so it's no different from getting the M Package which includes the Dynamic Performance Control.

What would you choose and why? I don't think my wife cares about the Macan's superb handling because the X3 should have fairly decent driving dynamics. Her preference is either of these two. I convinced her that the X5 is too pricey and big haha.

She will be the one driving it, I'm the one conducting the research.

X3 PHEV advantages:

If hybrid battery is no longer in the cargo area, more cargo volume
Likely cheaper starting price and less expensive packages/options
Lower gasoline outlay
Longer brake pad / rotor life even with DPC / brake-based torque vectoring

Macan advantages:
ala carte options could turn out cheaper
better handling, better steering
double-wishbone front suspension
maybe slightly slower depreciation rate (we keep cars long so probably doesn't matter)

In terms of reliability, servicing and parts, would it be a wash or would the X3 have lower cost of ownership if things were to fall apart here and there. It seems the Macan's issue is with the transfer case whereas the BMW's is with the rear differential leak. Other than that both engines are tried and tested, correct?

You are talking about cars which do not exist yet.

I think nobody can say something about reliability nor driving experience.

You are two years too early...

Based on the current X3, I think the driving experience will be good enough. I didn't ask for the driving experience. I wouldn't be asking before the debut if my wife wasn't considering getting on the wait list if the specs and pricing are good based on the coming reveal. If she can wait two years, all for the better and we will have more options then most likely. The car is more of a want, instead of a need.

The coming X3 will use the same engine and many of the same components like the ZF 8-speed. As long as there is no planned obsolescence with engine detonation because of failing plastic parts, then I think all else should be good with the basic four-year factory warranty.

I'm sure some people have cross-shopped the current X3 vs the Macan so I might as well gather their thoughts if possible, rather than wait two years for new car satisfaction survey results.

Thanks for chiming in though.

Made that comparison but never drove the Macan. My son had one a couple of years ago that I was in/drove once, so I knew generally how well it performed, but I had not recalled how tight the rear seat/cargo was compared to the X3, so I didn't go any further. He had advised me to skip the Macan as it was better for two people-plus (maybe young kids?) rather than a comfortable 4-seater for adults with cargo which is what we need.

Looks a lot roomier but can’t really tell if it’s the POS seats in a slightly different form. Was hoping for totally new seats

Which seats are to be avoided? The base ones?

The camo's doing a good job, because I can't seem to wrap my head around the mid-grille shelf highlighted in red. Comparing to the base 2024 X3 and M-Sport/M40i X3s, the grille is a flat+ kidney style. There're air holes below the shelf and regular kidney-looking upper portion. Maybe I'm dumb?

M sport seats I, and many others, find terribly uncomfortable. Like unbearable for long car rides. Dealbreaker type stuff.

M sport seats are not offered in the US. We just get Sport seats, whilst the ROW get M Sport seats.
