My dealer also confirmed there is a hold until early October (didn't give an exact date).

But they thought they wouldn't even receive the car until the hold lifted; once they get it they'll sell to me. Are you all hearing different?

I don't like the idea of my X3 M50 sitting around at the dealer through launch events etc.

They are going to lock mine up and put it on the showroom floor to keep it out of the weather...

God I hope not. I also don't like the idea of my car sitting on a lot. Assuming the dealer doesn't have a demo car I don't want people "checking out" my car. I know they can't drive it but what's to stop them from saying we have one its sold but you can look at it.

When I was debating on ordering an X1 or waiting for the new X3 announcement, They didn't have a demo car so the sales person pulled one up (it was sold) and let me look around. I of course was respectful as a car person but I can't say the same for other people....

Ugh, that's very unfortunate. My sympathies. Did you by any chance order an individual color or something else "special"? Or did the production for your build move to Rosslyn?

I guess you can add long waits to the list of CONS for early adopters.

It's not that long, just longer than was predicted. Heck, it took 10 months to get my Raptor when I ordered it.

Yes, that makes sense. The production date changes each step of the way between 150 and 160 until the actual build date is determined.

Hmm, I ordered Tanzanite Blue too and it's still on track (currently in Production Begins). So that shouldn't be the reason. So odd. Here's hoping that your production date will be earlier than what they're claiming now.

mine just went to waiting for carrier assignment.
I was talking with one of the finance people at my dealer about extending the warranty on my X5 and mentioned my new car and if there was a delay she said she didn't see anything posted.

Still in the 'Waiting Carrier Assignment' step.

As anyone called Genius yet? I bet they'll have a more accurate view on what is going on since they actually work for BMW Corporate, as opposed to the dealers who seem somewhat confused as what might be going on with a potential freeze.

Genius is the title of the help line and in no way reflects the people that work it or the information they give out. 😏

Got the VIN today. Status changed to 150.
BMW genius is of no use in Europe. They don't give any status and told me to check with the dealer.

Trust me... they don't know anything. If you talk to the right people at your dealer, that's the best source of information.
