Normally 15% and 18% with group of 6+.
I really hate the tipping culture of the NA. Especially when the it turns to be mandatory. Hate those sneaky bastards include 18-20% tip in the final bill without telling you. I swear many people do not look and tip them 15-20% again. What you see is what you pay in the rest of the world. I much prefer that over the NA style.

^ I don't disagree but you are going to pay one way or another. At least here in the states we have the option to deduct some of that pay for poor service. In other parts of the world, the service staff has their salary built into to the food price and there is no deducting something from the bill for poor service...

I'm disappointed. After the great drama, this thread peter'ed out. I was hoping for more Unabomber-like diatribes.

Glanced over her posts and banter. Being sensitive is one thing but getting feelings hurt by servers is a whole new level for me. Also, the amount of "extras" that the pissed off staff may have added to her meals, is quite a scary thought.
Some folks you must take it easy on and our "springs" may be one of them. |

i just double the first few numbers and round up to something even.
($55 meal, double would be $11 tip, round up to $12.) If the service was absolutely terrible, maybe i wont round up to an even number, but still a decent tip imo. They could just be having a bad day or something happened that was out of their control. Waitstaff get paid shit for a shitty job, no reason to shit on them more by leaving a shitty tip. |

20% rounded up, unless there was poor service involved.

Apologies if this was covered (I got lost in the pages where Springs was on work release from the Inpatient Psychiatric unit... Omg...).
Had no idea about the states that require minimum wage, vs. those that don't. Still thinking about that one. I always tip min 20%. Was traveling in Orlando this past year, and doing a fair bit of entertaining. I was tipping my usual 20%+, and after a couple days I looked at the bill. Apparently all of Orlando now adds 18% gratuity automatically to the tab, and then has another line to enter the tip. Since I hadn't been paying attention, for several days the servers had been getting about 40%. This was for just me, as well as parties of 4-6; it wasn't just the standard for parties of 6+. IIRC, Vegas may do the same thing now - seems like I was in another city that does the same. San Francisco adds a fee for health insurance on their restaurant checks. To digress a bit - I typically take Uber. They say not to tip - that it's included in the fee. Does anyone tip in cash for an uber? Further digression - I was in New Orleans recently. The city imposes a minimum charge on uber of $75, when leaving the airport. I guess the billions of federal money and charities, and ongoing charity support hasn't been enough...
