While technically speaking they can say it's "imported" if it's brewed in Canada, but certainly not the US. Regardless, it doesn't taste anything like the original and "real" Sapporo beer. The funny thing is I think all of the major Japanese beer labels are brewed in NA so it is indeed misleading and unfortunate. By that I mean tastes different. |

Not for dinner but for tomorrow's Fajitas.
3½ lbs. Top Round beef roast just out of the oven. Top Round is very lean but can also be very tough if not cook properly. In the oven @450°F for only 15 minutes on the convect roast setting then let it sit in the warm oven for another 30 minutes. I basted it with my home made marinade of garlic, olive oil, vinegar, dill and cilantro. I just tried a small slice...Nom Nom... So that is Lee's, right? Man I miss that. There used to be one near where I lived when I lived close to UC Irvine. If I'm not mistaken, that location is gone? I really liked that location as you could see the machine that makes the bread. Smelled good too.

Chou Farci, stuffed cabbage
Recipe from Bruno Albouze on YouTube Savoy cabbage leaves stuffed with ground pork, onions, carrots, garlic, chopped cabbage, prosciutto, parsley and grated cheeses. Plated with tomato sauce. This is a regular in the rotation, it comes up a couple of times per year. The flavor combination is excellent and the cabbage is a nice flavor and texture with the more familiar onion, carrot and pork flavors. Freezes well and is better the second and third time around. |

Have a reservation at one of my favorite local restaurants tonight. Their menu changes weekly based on what is in season and freshly available. Trying to decide between the Quail Grillades, Bouillabaisse or the Filet......

Hotel sambar, Indian lentil stew.
Garnished with fresh cilantro and a tadka with onion seeds, curry leaves and hing/asafoetida Recipe from Kabita’s Kitchen on YouTube. One of the best food items I have ever eaten. I subbed some veggies because the Indian grocery in the area didn’t have a few items. Lentils Onion Tomato Acorn squash Zucchini Green beans Spices: Onion seeds Curry leaves Hing/asafoetida Fenugreek seeds Cumin seeds Coriander seeds Dried coconut Turmeric Tamarind juice Urad dal Chana dal Paprika/red chili powder Black peppercorns Salt The tadka is a garnish of spices (curry leaves, onion seeds and hing) fried in oil or ghee, until the onion seeds pop and the curry leaves are crispy. The tadka is poured hot on the dish when served. One word: wow |
