Thanks Dave. Funny, but I was totally not out looking for birds. I was actually just out looking at houses for sale and on my way back to the highway when I spotted the nest on top of a phone pole. It was so out of place it just jumped out at me. Total luck.

Yes, I was lucky, my car was in the garage before it hit my house and all we got was a gentle rain with almost no wind and no hail.

Very neat shot. One of the drawbacks of living here in the bay area is the lack of dramatic weather. We rarely even get decent clouds. I realize that is actually a draw to many people, but for photography I could use something besides sunny days for months at a time
