The "N" upside down is the same, so is the "S," this simply indicates that we are viewing her tattoo upside down, which may be preferred by this individuals SO.

The tattoo is spot on, everyone else's perspective is off.

It makes perfect sense actually... The tattoo was correct on the day she was tattooed (IE she was sitting, facing south at the time). The tattoo artist just did the directions according to their real-world position in the shop...

When they painted the constellations on the ceiling of the Grand Concourse at Grand Central Terminal in NYC, several of the images were flipped in their orientations. The mistake has been accepted by an explanation that the ceiling depict's god's view of the constellations from above.

From a missionary perspective of the compass rose above, the same argument is plausible.....
