Is that a GBH? Normally, I see lots of Cattle Egrets, none to be found here. On the lighter side, the surf was ~10' faces and I spent a few hours up there and another Monk seal was enjoying the sand at Sunset beach.
Pics soon. Only one thong fish to see and I was just too shy, or was it my wife was scrutinizing me?

Very nice, a rare shot.
A bunch of your old buddies or not have been flying in today. About 5 tankers with 4 F16's/ F20's each know how to spend their weekend. Maybe not your old buddies, ANG possibly HI ANG tankers with Utah and Virginia planes.

"You going to put that dirty thing on my plane?"
Went to a museum and they had some planes with HH tails, it's confusing me. I thought that HH was Hill AFB and HL was Honolulu. I'm going to have to do more research. Then again if tails are different between services then it makes sense. One of "our" guys was the tanker, it said Travis on the tail. So very glad to come to Honolulu and see the USS Arizona, submarine and USS Oaklahoma memorials. Now to start my Eastern trek and find the Punchbowl.

Both nice ones Dave. I love how kestrels look like sweet little tweety-birds, but are totally ruthless little predators.
They also seem to prefer to perch one-footed I have noticed: Kestrel enjoying the California winter by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Nice shot Ed.
The one-foot stance is pretty common with birds. They alternate feet, since that's the only way to rest one, since they don't sit on their butts except when nesting. Our cockatiels and my daughter's Myers Parrot, do the same thing.

Killed off the rest of the Christmas ham yesterday by making a nice ham and bean soup. The ham-bone simmered in the crock all day long along with the beans, making the house smell awesome while I did other chores. Now I have dinner for the whole week just about. and you will have more soup by the end of the week
When I make split pea, the peas keep expanding like a never ending soup pot.

100% crop of a kestrel that flew over me on Sunday. Way out of range, I was surprised how well it came out with the 5D3 and the 100-400, in AE mode with no EC dialed in. I just aimed up and fired off a few shots. I'm very interested to read the reviews that will come with the release of the cheapo Tamron 150-600 later this week.

I'm constantly amazed at the files that the 5D3 can produce. That'd make a decent sized print. Dave
