Nothing new there except the size/weight specs. It's very close in size and weight to the 60D, which further indicates a polycarb body.

As to its ability to "significantly outperform the EOS 5D MkII," well let's wait and see. The ability to crank in higher ISO doesn't necessarily mean better low light performance. The proof will be in the pictures.

panicos, out of curiosity, what's the build quality on your Fuji X-Pro1?

Some lessons learned after days of walking around cities:

(Probably obvious stuff to those who have done it.)

1. Fewer lenses is better.

2. Skip the battery grip.

3. Tripod? Think again.

4. The lens you need for that perfect shot will be one you left back in your room. Just accept that and learn to adjust.

5. A 4/3 setup looks mighty sensible when your shoulders are aching from hauling the big gun around.

6. Wide and fast is essential for most historical sites, especially churches, abbeys, ruins, etc. I'd give anything for a 16-35 f2.8L or an EFS 17-55 f2.8 IS right about now.

1. If you could do it over again with any lenses, what gear would you take (and why)?

2. Perhaps you need to work out?

3. How about a monopod?

4. Sad, but true (mmm... Metallica).

5. This is why I'm considering a smaller, yet powerful (with good IQ) backup. Yeah yeah yeah, I know, smaller isn't always better, but it is if you can't take your dSLR with you, and it'll be a helluva lot better than a camera on your phone.

6. This is why people like primes. They are fast and light(er), generally speaking. But then again, refer back to my question in #1, where zooms might be better to take on a vacation?

• Don't be afraid to pump the ISO up to get those night street shots that'll memorialize and personalize your trip for you and those with you.
  
• Be sure to shoot people, including those in your party and some locals. Don't just focus on scenic landscapes and buildings.
  
• Consider taking your tripod for the occasional long exposure night shot, particularly if there's water. I have a four-section tripod so that it'll fit in my suitcase.

built quality.. hmm.. well its all metal but it pretty light. it looks heavier but when you take it is really light. (on a side note i thought i needed the grip and went on and bought it, put it on once and then sold it cheaper in ebay). the black paint is quite sensitive, i baby it to be honest but the one time i placed it on the ground normally it the paint left! overall i think its built very good, definitely feels a lot better than my nikon D5100 but its three times the cost! the buttons all feel solid, when you turn them they sit in place, they are not loose at all, the shutter is quite small, had to buy a soft release button.

very happy with it.. mark would have been too if he had it on his trip. i had it hanging from my wrist all day in Italy, with the 18mm on and the 35mm in a small bag and i never noticed it. for all of you with big gears, i think the X100 on the side would be perfect, the x-pro1 is a whole system it will be hard to carry both around, but the x100 with the fixed lens is great for a second body.

That's cool panicos. Have you played with any of the Leica rangefinders (M7, M8, or M9) at your local shop? If so, how does it feel when compared to those?

no never touched them. but compared to my M3 the M3 feels more solid and it is much heavier. reviews say that the m8 and m9 is not built as good as the M3. dont know about the M7. The M3 is like a jewel, i have it tucked away in a box for future use (when i'm good enough to use film )

I left my 10-22 at home thinking I had the Roki 14 2.8, so was covered for wide. Thing is, the Roki is MF only, so not as quick to grab a shot. Wish I'd brought the 10-22. But what I really wish is that I had gone ahead and pulled the trigger on a fast 17ish-50ish zoom.

I was sitting at the intersection of two looooong hallways at the cathedral in Wells yesterday when I heard lots of kids coming down the hall. I was right in the middle of changing lenses and here comes the boys choir all dressed in their choir regalia. By the time I got my lens on, they were on top of me and there was no way to get a candid shot of them. I had to bite my tongue to keep from cursing.

I have the S95, which isn't bad in a pinch, but like panicos says above, something like the X100 would be even better.

I have my 135L with me and I plan on some street shooting with it in London.

  I ran at 1600 ISO for a bunch of the interior shots at the Roman Baths today. Some of my abbey/cathedral interiors are at 1600 as well.

  Wifey was just commenting about how sterile my images are when it comes to people. I love candid shots. I just can't get comfortable taking them.

  I bought a CF travel tripod before I left for just that reason. I plan on making good use of it in London. The weather so far has been dismal except for the one day we were at Glastonbury Abbey. Otherwise it's been cold, rainy, and very windy.

none bought a cheap 50mm Soviet Jupider to test if its working and that was it. no money to invest on a Leica lens as it deserves. my next 800-1000 euros will go to the 14mm 2.8 and the next 1000 to the 56mm 1.4. in 5 years i will get her a good one . I have it as jewellery!!

The right bag will help. I use a Think tank with the accessory backpack straps. It helps with the load quite a bit.
Body,tripod,tablet,300 f4,100mm,28-135 and a 18-55. Or with my smaller bag, I will stuff it into a backpack and carry it that way.
Look at it this way, you could be in pancake land taking pictures of stunted growth corn.
