I will admit I woke up completely confused because I was exhausted and in deep sleep after working a long shift that day. It was around 1am- first thing I saw when I opened my eyes were blue / red lights flashing from the window and non stop pounding on my front door with a policeman yelling "police!" I still hesitated, had my gun in my hand, then checked my cameras, confirmed it was police, then put my gun away and walked to open the front door.

Took about 90 seconds total I'd say for me to run around like a fool figuring out if it was really the police and decide to put my gun away and open the door.

Other than that, nope, I don't answer the door typically.

@Sedan_Clan what are your thoughts on this scenario? Shouldn't they identify their agency? Honestly, if someone is banging at my door at 1 AM I would have Mr.12 gauge double barrel in my hand

Well I don't always identify my agency either. I'll simply say, "Sheriff's Department." Generally speaking, people know which agency patrols their area and what their uniformed personnel look like. I would not recommend answering the door with a gun in your hand if it's law enforcement. I would also avoid it even if it's not law enforcement unless you want a brandishing charge; if you point it at someone and it's not in self-defense, that's assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm.

Plinky. I want a .308 Mauser in the worst way. There was a guy who was selling Mausers online for years. World War II surplus. When I finally decided I was going to buy one he was out of business

Grandpa was .43cal. I couldn't find any ammo for it anywhere at what I considered a reasonable price. .308 is a common caliber so you shouldn't have any trouble that way, you just need to find the gun. Good luck in your search.

Yeah it's my kickoff (…end of my work week). I'm working my 1400-0600, with 6 hours of it being O.T. since we're so short-staffed.

If you're short staffed I'll join the force if they let me dress like this.

I had to replay it several times. That loud bang sounded like a gun shot to me and I was shocked they shot the guy. I mean he didn't look like he was a threat worth shooting.

Replay on youtube and read what happened and THEN I noticed the taxi guy opening his door and BANG.

I hope the taxi guy got all his expenses covered by the city.

Here's an open ended one for you guys:

Regardless of how close or far away it is, what're your retirement plans after law enforcement?

Revolving door (consulting at same agency/city you worked for)?

Private sector (PI, corporate security, etc)?

Fuck off to somewhere remote where you don't have to deal with people anymore and pick up sailing and golf as your new hobbies?

Total career change to something else?

Stay at home spouse to raise the kids?

I think I've posted this before. My bro in law was in law-enforcement for 50+ years. started with city PD for 20 years. Then moved on to an investigator with a local Indian nation. Did 20 years there as well. Then worked as a school resource officer for sheriffs department. He says he's had enough.

I plan to retire out of state and use my accident reconstruction skills to earn side cash reconstructing accidents for insurance companies for $200-400 an hour. I will walk around nakie when not doing that and still try to get it in with whatever woman I end up with. If I don't use it, I'll lose it.
