The high per my backyard weather station was 91.3F, and the lowest humidity all day was a muggy 61%. An early afternoon strong thunderstorm rolled through, dumping 0.76" of rain and bringing the temps down to the upper 70's F for a bit before climbing again.
I finally re-enabled the afternoon departure schedule in my BMW i3 yesterday. (It has been off since COVID lockdown, since I was WFH until just recently.) Getting into a pre-chilled car (aka: life support) when leaving work on a hot afternoon is priceless.....

Ridiculously hot and humid. Look forward to getting back to NC in less than a month.

In Asheville, yes much better. I’m in South Florida. Doesn’t get much more humid than here in the summer.

If I had to go back to NC, thanks probably where I’d want to be, versus the middle of the state… I’m not a beach person but I’d take that over the center cities.

After several days at 90F (32C) and up -- the hottest was 99F (37C) -- our temps are forecast to return to more temperate 80s. The llamas, the dog and we survived. It's still bone dry, though.

Up early this morning for my run with Talii before the forecasted thunderstorms. At least now the temperature and humidex are bearable.

We're finally back to the normal once or twice a week rain day, so the drought threat is decreased. Lawns are green again. The temps and humidity have been tolerable. Not like last summer when it was unbearable. So far this year, no complaints.

Daytime temps in the 70s today. Since I have insomnia, I'm up at oh-dark-thirty when the lows are mid/upper 40s. 90s coming next weekend, though.
Our rivers are snow melt and are C-O-L-D. Every year we have people who jump in on a 90 degree day and don't emerge. ![]()

We had rains approaching biblical proportions here on Sunday. My home weather station was reporting instantaneous rainfall rates of 4+ inches per hour at times. My storm total was 3.5" of rain on the tipping bucket and 3.9" of rain on the haptic sensor, and the airport across town reported 5+ inches. (Rain gauges have accuracy problems in heavy downpours.)
Many major roads are still closed on the southeast side of the county due to significant damage, including Storm King Highway (cliff road used in TV commercials), the Palisades Interstate Parkway, and roads around the USMA at West Point and Bear Mountain. Commuter rail on the other shore of the Hudson River is suspended due to track washouts. Yesterday was sunny/humid and slightly below average, with some pop-up thunderstorms. Today is sunny/warm/dry, but we'll be back to hot with dank humidity by tomorrow..... ![]() .

92°F right now, forecasted high today is 95°F. Got a new AC condenser during the early spring, glad I did. The old one was on its way out. New one is working hard right now and doing a good job of keeping the house cool.
