My wife ordered her X3 on 12 Oct and it started production 4 Nov (doing the F12) and picking it up 9 Nov ! I fell off my chair. Now we are concerned their quality dept were asleep as it went by.

It helps as the Spartanburg facility is less than 5 hours away but I guess when they have all the parts the car can be built quick.

Mine was the same time frame. Total time from production start to delivery about 3 weeks. If you live on the East coast they take no time at all to deliver.

My favorite part was when they plopped the glass pano roof on top of the car. I guess much easier now that there are no moving parts!

Thanks for sharing!

My car was one of the unlucky ones that was stuck in QC for 2+ weeks. Another member here reported that their car was in QC for 4+ weeks. So there's a lot of possible variance.

But the good news is that this is a minority case. Most cars seem to speed through QC within their assembly day. Hope your car falls into the majority bucket!

Amount of time in Quality control

I noticed Mr Carrot has similar build to mine and mine went into QC yesterday. How long was yours in QC?

I’m hoping to pick mine up in the Performance Center and will need an appointment. Not sure what time frame to predict.

Welcome to the four. The normal time in QC is a few hours. If they have to get a part then that usually takes about four days,

Thanks. I guess there's no good way to predict the QC time frame if it’s in there over a day then. Hmmmm.

Was hoping to compare Mr Carrots’ time in QC to get an idea what the hold up might be.

My Build:
Tanzanite Blue
Beige Perforated and Quilted Veganza

PREMIUM PACKAGE
PARKING ASSISTANCE PACKAGE
M SPORT PROFESSIONAL PACKAGE
M SPORT PACKAGE PRO blue calipers

20” 1036M Wheels with Staggered Performance Tires
Front ventilated seats
Rear Climate Control Console
Remote Engine Start
Trailer Hitch

It's hard to say as technically I got a dealer build that was already in the system but was literally identical to what I'd built on the website, just with the added hitch and rear seat heating.

Rather than waiting for my build to go through, I took that option since they were offering a 7% msrp discount and promised it would be here in barely a week

Now I'm realizing I might have got screwed on tires in my rush to order, as I was assuming the "performance tires" were p4s but apparently that's not the case.

What are you trying to learn from asking that question multiple times? I gave you the timeframe. How long his was in QC has no bearing on anything other than that vehicle. At this time there are no part supply or production issues that is holding vehicles in QC.

Thanks TurtleBoy for your response and question. I wasn’t trying to offend or bother anyone. I noticed that some buyers went through QC really quickly and others waited weeks. I thought maybe there is a pattern for delays, for example those with hitches like mine might be delayed for some reason, and I saw Mr Carrots had a hitch.

Just excited to get it, but I’m traveling for three weeks straight soon, and was hoping the X3 is here before I’m gone. If it’s delayed in QC more than a week, I will probably need to wait until I’m back to take delivery. OK?

You didn't offend or bother anyone. I just sensed frustration or confusion in your posts so wanted to try to alleviate it. QC is a crapshoot. 95+% of vehicle aren in and out in a few hours. The stay for the others depends on what the issue is. If it is a trim piece it may be a few days, if it is a transmission it may be a couple of weeks. Each situation is unique because of so many factors being taken into account.

I ordered my X3 M50 on October 16th at my Illinois dealer, and it was out of the paint shop by 10:00 PM Central last night. I checked again mid morning and it was in quality control.
