Sunny and 86°F right now with a high forecasted a 88°F. Been a very nice week.

Will heat up next week. Monday's forecast is 103 and Tuesday's is 105.

I'm enjoying the nice days while they're here.

We're enjoying Gulf Coast-style humidity this evening. It's not bad now that the sun is down.

GLOBAL WARMING continues to punish the mid and southern portions of the country. This coupled with sporadic weather anomalies world wide.

We desperately need rain in Texas....

The start of a crappy week-end. I covered my veggie boxes and brought all my potted plants inside the garage.

It's more of the same today. However, if the forecast starting Sunday is any indication, this intense weather is over for the season. (fingers crossed)

After three months-plus of no rain, we finally got a bit last night. Not enough to register on the rain gauge and only for a few minutes, but wonderful.

I can't speak on this as I know what the term means, but no clue on if or how it would affect rain.

Pretty nice today. Looks like we might have a spike week after next, but that could easily change.

We had our 100 degree day on Thursday, but it only lasted about an hour. We did set an all time record for the heat index at 120 and it was, in fact, very uncomfortable! This is the first time it has hit 100 in Chicago since July 2012 and the first time in 32 years it has hit 100 in August. That’s one of the things I like about Chicago weather. In Texas the temperature doesn’t decline at all in August. Most of the time you can see the temperature get cooler day by day in Chicago during the month of August.

Another heat wave, starting today. High is forecasted at 96°F today. All next week is in the 100s. Fall/winter can’t come soon enough, as far as I’m concerned.

A very nice week ahead in the forecast. Check Monday and Tuesday next week. I’m betting that goes down before we get there. If it happens it will be the first time it’s hit 100 here in September since 1960.

Not to get political, but for those of you who are especially concerned about global warming, check out the frequency of 100 degree days in Chicago since 1900. I don’t see evidence of an increasing occurrence. 1988, of course, was quite an anomaly when much, if not all, of the country experienced a heat wave that lasted about two weeks.

High heat warning started today at 10, thru Tuesday night around 9 pm.

Sunny and 72, not sure how I'm going to survive this.

When I was first stationed in California I had confused the “Sunshine State” as California’s motto. I was stationed at the Presidio of Monterey and every afternoon at 4:00 like clockwork the fog would come rolling in and I used to say I was going to sue California for false advertising.

Both times I was stationed in Monterey (1970-71 as a student and 1977-80 on the staff) I had a motorcycle. A good jacket was a must-have!

“The coldest winter I have spent was that summer in San Fran”

87 in the shade as I headed out for my 4.2 run. It’s a little warmer away from the coast

We've moved in to what we hope is the end of the high-humidity part of summer. Dewpoints are forecast to be below 60° for the next couple of weeks.
