Don’t get me wrong, I love the interior. But for some reason I find that removing the shifter and changing the steering wheel remove a lot of the look. Personally, I think the lci m340i steering wheel and crystal shifter would really make this perfect. But hey, still a beautiful interior.

Was curious about the added dimension to the car. I currently drive an X5, but thought about going to a 3. My wife says no, she likes the added space - but wanted to get input on the new interior feel from a roominess standpoint.

I know this has been said over and over... but you guys are aware interior dimensions of the prior gen X3 vs current X5 are identical right? In nearly every metric except cargo space...

Wasn’t aware of that, and have never driven an X3. BMW said the new model is larger, so I asked for his input as he is a prior owner of the previous model.

I largely agree, but I want to point out that if you need child car seats, then the X5's few extra inches of width can still make a tangible difference. It may make it easier to squeeze two car seats next to each other, or to give the accompanying adult(s) a little more comfort.

Other than that though, the interior space differences are pretty marginal.

Passenger space is about the same as the previous X3. Cargo space is slightly increased but it is still no X5 as far as cargo and passenger capacity.

Checked one out quickly at the dealer last week. Exterior is fine in person. Looks great in M50 trim. BMW is just the worst at taking press pictures, they make the cars look cartoonish. Pricing is too close to the X5 in Canada though, I feel like you might as well go for the X5 if you step up to the X3 M50. Is your interior sensafin or what ever...test drove an X5 and was blown away by the quality of the fake leather. Really no point in getting real leather anymore.

Yep, they are quite close. Hence why I got the G01 X3 M40 over the X5 M60 and saved 30k.

"Boost paddle" is it simply a down shift with paddle?

I looked it up in the manual and the description is very vague. See below. I think it may allow a temporary hp boost from the electric engine but don’t quote me.

The SPORT BOOST function can be used for
upcoming acceleration, for example.
This function is operated with the shift paddles
on the steering wheel.
The system prepares the vehicle.

agree many of us are looking for total package even as an optional lux interior only vs spartan budget Tesla like design and other cheapo interiors from other brands. With their typical interior from prior gens they could have owned the market. I can’t sit for hrs in there and look at those circus lights. Too bad cuz drivetrain seems fine.

Yeah, the Sport Boost requires holding down the left paddle shifter for more than 1 second, so there's something else going on beside just the downshift. Pretty sure it's indeed the mild hybrid engine kicking in.

That Forbes Mag review is BS. The reviewer says he only tested the 4 cyl models, and then goes on to trash the M50 V6 model without even driving it. He doesn’t say it, but he’s probably going from memory of the former M40 model. Much of his criticism about the harsh ride has been addressed with the M50 supposedly, according to what other reviewers are saying.

He actually encourages his readers to the buy the 30 over the M50. How does that advice resonate with many driving enthusiasts on this forum?

Yea yea yea, sorry. In a wide world of V6’s, I keep forgetting it’s an in-line 6. Oops.

Thought I would add my 2 cents about m40i, I never felt it was hash, I had x5 with air suspension before and '24 X3 m40i feels just as quiet and comfy, and I just swapped the 20" run flats out for pilot sport AS4 it drives even better now, though a bit too soft for some conditions.

How is the new X3 hood dip on braking or left right sway?

Hi Everyone,

I have viewed this thread for years ever since my first 3 series in 2006. Just went from a 2022 X3 M40i to the new X3 M50. Before that I had the 1st and 2nd generation X4's. Like many here I had some apprehension with this new generation of X3. So I just wanted to share my thoughts for anyone who is on the fence as I can directly compare the previous generation to the new one.

Exterior: Like all new BMW's before it this car looks so much better in person than it does in pictures and videos. It definitely has more visual heft and more visual presence than the prior car. Despite only being an inch longer and wider it looks much bigger. I chose Dune Grey. I have always owned Black, Blue and Grey cars. I wanted to change it up this time. Like Brooklyn Grey its look depends on the light. Bright light it is almost like chalk . In lower light it's more like putty. It is definitely more stealthy than Vegas Red and at the speeds you will go in this car I felt less cop attention is better lol. I wish they had maybe kept more suggestion of the quad corona rings that are so iconic for BMW but this new look is not bad. My one big gripe. Why can't we get the cool horizontal amber turn signals that the Europeans do. All we get is a flashing red brake light. C'mon BMW !

Interior: This issue has been so controversial on these forums so my two cents. Like the exterior it looks and feels a lot better in person. I would almost say it is an apples to oranges in comparison to the old interior as it so different. I would say fit and finish are on [...]
I saw and sat in 1 recently at a dealer. I agree exterior looks nicer in person and also interior looks cheaper in person than in pictures. I didn’t drive it…
