And with the M50 now equipped with torque vectoring M Sport Differential as standard, I think people will generally find it more fun to toss around because it seems most who have the G01 M40i didn't opt for it.

Definitely going to have sharper handling than our outgoing M40is with the increased track width, 1 inch lower and lower CD and improved steering and kinematics.

I like it and I hate it, so I guess I have to see it. Does the M50 have a trailer hitch option? Would that be the 4850 pounds?

Front is ugly. Angel eyes appear on their way out of BMW for the foreseeable future.
Side meh
Rear is great

Interior design is reminiscent of a last gen Nissan Rogue. Very cheap looking visually.

BMW is top tier at the lease game. Besides the warmed over new GLC, there aren't many ICE players in this segment. Q5 is very old, XC60 maybe? New Lexus NX is fine but I don't imagine much cross shopping.

Not bad, not great; as I estimated earlier this week, the M50 is drastically better looking than the base X3.

Excited to see if an M50 can be saved once the configurator goes live.

I feel like they are all over the place with upgrades/downgrades on this. They added Extended Merino as an option which is normally on X5 and above, however based on the description, it gets a handicapped version of Driving Assistant Pro that doesn’t include the Highway Assistant. It also gets iDrive 9, which to my understanding was a version intended for the lower end models like the X1/X2.

what's strange is that this is the best in this class

GLC is meh, boring, and low quality. interior visually is better though
NX - same, but with a boring interior too
Q5 - Audi will ride this until the X3's LCI haha
Macan ICE - won't likely get updated much, the non-s has a terrible engine for the same price as an M50, you really gotta want the badge

everything else, XC60, QX50, RDX, XT4/5, Corsair, GV70 all have their own significant downsides.

That leaves this... I can see why BMW phoned it in, the bar was not very high

Not sure if anyone can answer this, but a 2021 x3 M40i had 382hp from motor only. The 2022-2024 got the mild hybrid with an 11 hp motor. So the 2025 is now measuring 393 total hp output with motor and mild hybrid. Was bmw not putting the added 11 hp in the 2022-2024 total power output, as the they stated only 382 even with the mild hybrid.

I wonder if the B58 on the Miller cycle will have no growth pangs whatsoever.

Is this the B58TU2 model already out on the 7 series and X7?

Update:
Oh, seems to be on the LCI X5 as well and yeah port injectors now included.

Hoping the engine reliability is improving with each iteration but at least we know the intake valves will not have any carbon deposit build ups for this TU2.

I was hoping my initial impression would be more positive. The front and side views look lazy to me. BMW should have kept the iX designers away from the X3 (uninteresting hood, lights and slab sides).

Interiors continue to get cheaper and more boring. Polyester dash and door panels? The i3 when first introduced had door panels that looked like egg cartons. Environmentally friendly but not something I would spend any money on. No buttons or visible A/C vents. A clean look for the iPhone generation may not be very practical in real life (BMW designers should spend some time in Florida, Arizona or Nevada in summer with no vents to direct enough flow to your face/body; they seem to have forgotten how poor their old A/C systems used to be).

I hope it looks better in person and that it grows on me over time, otherwise my '24 is a keeper.

With all that said - X3 is kind of doomed for success.

I haven't admitted this on this forum yet . . . but I recently replaced my X4 M40i with a (gasp) new Lincoln Nautilus Black Label. Sized between the X3 and X5, rip-off Range Rover styling, pure luxury, ZERO sporting pretentions. An absolutely beautiful car inside and out, every feature you could think of, and amazing tech. But I don't think there are many others cross shopping BMW and Lincoln, so I agree . . .

Interesting, the ventilated seats lack lumbar support. I hope that's not going to be the 'rule'...

When can we expect the configurator and/or ordering guides to be updated for the G45?

That’s likely true, but a different size can really change the dynamic. Same wheel base, but extra length and width makes it a different car…likely for the better, but not always.

I would guess ordering/pricing guides within the next week or so. Configurator anytime after that through August depending on existing inventory.

I feel like they are possibly attempting to try to grab some of that new station wagon audience because there isn’t a ton in that class at the moment. From the side, it does make me think of the Subaru Outback a bit. Just in proportions, not style.

So glad that the fabric dash is indeed just an option and not standard.
