Keep an open mind, etc. I haven't had any major issues with mine so far. In comparisons it has beat out the Camry and beat it out for the North American Car of the Year award. You have heard about how "good" the new Malibu is right? The Aura is the same car underneath, but came out a year before the new Malibu.
yeaa... the american cars are doing MUCH better than before... and saturn HAS improved ten-fold. I think the american car companies are doing pretty well b/c i believe that they're copying a LOT of japanese/european styling. Nonetheless, i haven't driven the Aura so i can't say much on it, but you're right. it NEVER hurts to try something out!
Also, the new Malibu does look pretty good... but based on history, etc., for the price range, i would stick w/ the accord or so.

The same can be said about any car company from any country about designs. They all take design cues from each other. Just look at the new Accord. There are a lot of 5 series cues in its design. But, if you meant that the new Saturn's look like Opel's from Europe, that is because GM is merging them together. Pretty much like how Vauxhaul is the Opel in Britain, Saturn is becoming Opel for the US. Though I think it is the former is what you meant.

Since he has family and kids now, I would go new, there is no reason to buy used, specially that he is willing to pay 28k, this money can get him brand new V6 Accord EX-L , if he lives in an area where it snows and rains, he is better off with a Subaru outback, which I have right now as a daily driver, it's great car, and very reliable, a fully loaded one with Nav for around 28k. and has great safety ratings as well. being a station wagon and AWD, it has all the advantages of an SUV with none of the drawbacks.

+1 I like the new model, looks more beasty.

I would vote for the Accord, however the Altima is also a great choice, spacious with fair price.....

I hate the way the new Accord sedan looks like....got a close look at the LA Autoshow.

My mom has a newer Hyundai Sonata....and absolutely loves it. The car is great, no problems whatsoever. Hyundai cars have really been improving lately. So, if your buddy can look past the old reputation of Hyundai...then consider a Sonata...or if he wants something more, get the Azera.

ok, he bought a car yesterday, 2007 VW Passat 2.0T, pretty big, the turbo engine is decent. he was thinking of a 08 accord, but there wasnt that much bargaining room.
