So it looks like it's down to

1. Hellcat
2. CTS-V
3. AMG

Leaning towards the Hellcat honestly. I like that it's RWD. I am assuming AMG's are all wheel drive nowadays?

There are only two real choices there as far as I can tell and neither are from Dodge.

Op go for the hellcat!

I know I'm spoiled rotten by mine, and yesterday was a good example of that. I had to park my friends Hyundai, and on that 200 hundred meter I wished I could find a time to build a time machine and never buy mine, since I'm mot a fan of how much of a snob I've become. A week or two in a minivan or even worse: Something American looking and feeling could cure me, I just am afraid it would make me drive over a cliff. If it's not too late for you, go for it.

I'm always trying to feed the hungry trolls, in my eyes they (we) need a snack too. Well done boys, we can indeed make a bimmerpost t-shirts with a dodge as a picture after our pretty replies.

Happy new year, hairy beasts, OCD 's, snobs and me since I seem to master every last one of the mentioned categories.

Speed + luxury - go for the AMG (no manual)

Daily driving + tech + performance - M4 (manual)

Speed + cheap cost + varying reliability - Hellcat

Don't know what your price point is, but I was in the similar "can only have a 4 door" situation a few years back. Other than the cars mentioned above, I would seriously consider the Panamera (Turbo or GTS), if you can get over looks. It handles extremely well for its size, probably handling feel better than an M5, (the ones I've seen on the track are very fast), you can travel in super comfort, you can track it, it is on a different level luxury wise than BMWs interior wise, might be able to get a used one for pretty cheap. M6 GC is also an option as is one of the few BMWs that pulls off the tasteful aggressiveness look (and way more aggressive than M5) and seems to be a little quicker than the M5 and chassis appears to be more sorted out. Haven't driven the M6 or Panamera, so may be worth trying to really scour the reviews from well regarded reviews/mags and preferably try to get a real test drive in some twistys where you can push it a little more (unlikely won't get this opportunity with the M6).

Would also consider the ATS-V (over the CTS-V) when it comes out as is will be the more direct M3 competitor, we already know the base car handles better than the F30, it definitely looks better than the CTS (though still uglier than anything from BMW) and from what I've seen on the Nurburgring footage, it looks to be extremely fast and agile (the E46 chassis was 'targeted' by Caddy for feel, while the E90 chassis was targeted for overall dimensions….Caddy also bought an E90 M3 ZCP to run around the ring for the ATS-V development). Will be very interesting to see the actual track times on that puppy given the intense BMW targeting that surrounded its development.

Panamera GTS is one of the most ferocious sounding sedans ever. Drove one at Thunderhill and it was better than the m5 but couldn't get past the hideous exterior looks. Another car to be reckoned with is the Audi RS7

By far the best post on the thread. Excellent perspective and breakdown. I wish I had Panamera GTS or turbo money to spend on a car, but I really don't. I'm not sure what they go for but I will look into it.

Actually I don't think any of those cars are good for you because in all honesty all three suck.

Put up 3 more better choices and let's try to see if they'll be a better fit for you.

..Go test drive the new Mustang GT bud, decent handling and good power/torque per recent reviews. Also looks great IMHO. You can drive one off the lot for under $45K, fully loaded with 19s + Brembos. Saw one parked next to my M4 at Starbucks couple weeks back. Good looking car. If V8 American muscle is what you're looking for, the new GT/or Shelby GT350 ( if price not an issue) is the way to go. I'd take one over a Dodge Challenger in a hearbeat!.
I didn't want to open a can of worm since he seems to like Dodge, lol. I would take the new Mustang GT350 over any Dodge (other than the Viper of course). The new Mustang design looks sleek, slowly getting away from that retro crap.

It's not you BMW ... it's me!

Simply put, I've been spoiled by BMW's to where not even a BMW seems good enough anymore.

So, I'm thinking of taking a detour with my next car. Heading in a different direction. Maybe a palate cleanser is due for, to put things into perspective. And with gas this cheap (won't be here forever), why not! Something big, brawny and freaking loud and obnoxious. Must have 4 doors. I definitely prefer manuals, but don't mind driving an auto for a while too. In the name of change.

New is better, but also don't mind something lightly used. I'd also prefer to not get slaughtered selling it.

Here's what I've come up with so far:

Any other suggestions?

What say you bimmerpost?

You need a Raptor.

You should buy (turning on random car generator app):

M-B Unimog camper
Citroen DS
or...
Nyan Cat Ferrari 458

Hope this helps.

If looking at American...

ATS-V
GT350

Hellcat would be great, but really not practical. If that's what you're looking for, then by all means. Just don't wreck it!

FWIW, I wouldn't count on the fuel prices staying this low. Feels tricksy to me.

I was really rooting for the hellcat. Just a badass piece of machinery. Something to experience in a lifetime. I've never experienced an American muscle car, so that may have been part of the appeal as well.

I'm all but sure gas prices won't stay low like this for maybe more than a year. That was the whole point. Get a gass guzzling, tire smashing, brawny car while it's cheap!

My dreams of an American muscle fling may just have to wait.

In a weird twist of fate, my dealership called me this morning and said they were offering $2,500 under invoice on ANYTHING IN STOCK. Anything! Including M's. Sadly though, I wasn't able to bring myself to sign the papers on a DCT car they had on the lot. It didn't help that they had sunroofs either. Just didn't seem right. While I was there, I remembered that the f80 can be equipped with cloth seats (which I always wished I could have on my f30), and for some reason that and the 6MT rev matching feature just got me fired up about the whole experience. Totally unexpected. One thing lead to the other, and I just signed the papers on an f80, provided they secure an allocation today. Should be a fun car. Oddly enough, I was not excited about it until I was there and it felt like it was actually happening. I'm really looking forward to it now!

The whole situation is very unlike me. To change plans like that after initially wanting to wait for the LCI. Some deals are just too good to pass up on. Seriously.
