The image of the frozen falls above reminded me of one of mine taken a couple of years ago.

Linn Falls, Aberlour, Speyside at -16C.
The caramel colour of the ice on the falls is due to the Lour Burn being quite rich in peat.
The Falls are a few hundred metres above Aberlour Distillery and it is from this burn that the distillery extracts its water. The water is said to contribute to the unique and beautiful taste of Aberlour Single Malt Whisky.

You and I have to talk, Alan. My favorite quaff is Aberlour A'bunadh. I need to visit this place on our next trip to the UK.

Also, Alan...great detail in that shot above. No blown highlights in the snow and good shadow detail. Overall, a superb shot.

You have very good taste my friend, A'bunadh is indeed a very special dram.
I lived in Aberlour for 10 years after I retired and it was, and still is of course, a wonderful place to live.
Our house was just above the village, about half a mile from the distillery, and when the wind was from the west I could smell, and almost taste Aberlour whisky in my garden.
When the wind was from the north, I could smell The Macallan.
Heaven !

Macallan 12 is the other Scotch bottle in my cabinet. I can see where living between the two distilleries would be heaven.
