These will be a hoot to drive! The S could be a monster with tune. And talk about value for the Base with all the tq. There is nothing like it in the segment and they will continue to rule it. I love the interior and the overall design. No stupid and tacky glued on screens. I can't wait to test drive it!!

I'm more curious what they will do with the GTS in NA form to keep it quicker than the S. Maybe a 3.6?

They already did a 4.0, no worries about it taking top rung. 911 will progress accordingly.

The Cayman will be astonishing as well and then don't forget the GTS mode and future GT4.
I haven't seen weights announced yet. Let's hope adding a turbo and accompanying components don't raise the curb weight.

Since Porsche has already updated their website (something that takes BMW half a year), the base is 2,944 and the S is 2,988. Compared to the six cylinder Caymans, it's up 56 and 78 pounds respectively. I can't recall if the Boxster was heavier than the Cayman before.

$57,050 and $69,450....The S is going to be fast, likely hitting 60 in well under 4 seconds with PDK.

99% positive the boxster has always been lighter.
I know the spyder is lighter than the gt4.

Speaking of spyders. I'd be hard pressed not to grab it over this new one. Pasm or no pasm...

I'm intrigued, but I've always liked forced induction. Looking forward to more reviews.

So why didnt they name it the 914?
It has more with that name (used for a roadcar, also positioned under the 911) than the 718 which was a racecar I think.

New shape looks great.... I'm not a big fan of the four dot headlight design... looks a bit unfinished to me.

Flat-4's are a huge part of the history of Porsche.

Flat-4's are what Ferry Porsche and company chose to power the 356. Also known as the first Porsche car. Ever.

Flat-4's were used on the original 718 Spyder...which won not only LeMans in 1961 (in it's class), but also a few Formula 2 races, hill climbs, and endurance. Graham Hill and Sterling Moss also drove the 718.

I-4's are what powered the 914/4, which saved Porsche's ass because the 914/6 (flat-6) wasn't selling too hot. In fact, the 914/4 with it's flat-4 outsold the 911 at that time.

I-4's are what powered the 924 which also sold very well and saved Porsche's ass.

I-4's are what powered the 944, which for a while was the most successful Porsche ever.

And more recently, the Porsche 919 (the car that won the last LeMans) is powered by a turbo charged V4 (which is a 4-cylinder)

4-Cylinders are as important to Porsche as the Inline-6s are important to BMW.

The Cayman is right under the 911. Plus, the 944 was a front mounted car. The 718 was a Mid-mounted. And I guess the 944s isn't as exciting as the 718s.

924/944/968 did not have a horizontally opposed 4, but rather straight fours.

I think we both get that Porsche has a long, proud history both on the road and the track, with four cylinders. I was just making fun of the guy who wouldn't buy a four cylinder Porsche.

you mean flat four

I wrote 914, not 944. The 914 had flat four (except for one model) was mid mounted, had a detachable roof (the 718 had no roof at all), and was a road car instead of a bespoke racecar, and was positioned under the 911. So to me that makes for a more suitable name.

I don't like four cylinders whatever they can do (my other car is a 2.5 4 pot) but this is sounding very exciting; and stupidly quick!
