Gosh, Honda brings out a car to replace a true icon and it gets slated.
It's exciting, it's fast. It won't break down constantly. Be glad it exists.

It has almost nothing to do with the original, which was light, simple and direct. It would be like BMW calling the i8 a replacement for the M1.

I would bet it was a manufacturer car of some sort.

I agree it looks great, but not like $200k, or even $150k. Perhaps a smidge over $100,000?
You do realize the original was over 80k right, cant expect it to increase just a few grand over 15-20yrs.....inflation alone would take it past the number you suggest...take an M5 for instance, base price in 95' was 54k, its nearly doubled since then.....

The "original" car had an MSRP of $60k in 1991 and ended its run in 2005 with an MSRP of $90k. Inflation gets the car to about $105-110k but I understand this car is much more technologically advanced. The real question is whether it's $90k better than the last iteration. That's what people have trouble with, especially given what else is on the market at that price point.

Well let's see. In 1991 the MSRP was $60,600, and in 2005 $89,000. Inflation using the CPI to today would make that $105,456.90 and $108,010.82, respectively, or a little over $100k.

But regardless of inflation, you have to look at what else you can buy with the same money.

M4 GTS - $134,200
Nissan GT-R - $101,770
911 GT3 - $130,400
Viper GTS - $107,885
911 Turbo - $159,200
McLaren 570S - $184,900
Audi R8 - $164,150
Ferrari California T - $198,000

To me, the NSX looks more GTR or Viper than McLaren or R8. Don't get me wrong, I've seen the car and it's stunning, but it just doesn't look like $200k, or anywhere close to it.

^this!

I do think it's much sleeker than the GT-R and probably has better interior quality (Nissan -> Infiniti, Honda -> Acura), plus it will definitely put down the numbers, but there are just soooooo many other cars I'd rather have for that money.

Anyone know how much the 1990 GTR sold for vs. the NSX?

Sometimes I drink a little too much booze, but I like the idea of a woman in charge of a design or project. It deserves and requires a premium?

Nice spot for sure !!
I like the back end of it. The 1990 NSX's have those classic lines, which the new one might have a hard time achieving.

Boring, even the wheels look dated (like the rest of the car).

Brings back good memories of destroying the previous gen posers in my Supra. Woot!

Apparently the first production NSX is being sold at Barret Jackson today. Could be the same one, maybe?

Edit: NVM, apparently that one is red.

Yeah thats kinda where I was going....just taking into account for inflation...did not even mention the tech or performance per dollar, and from some of reports I read its going to put down some impressive numbers...

Meh. Nice car but once you get into the 150-200k range, there are so many options. From an i8 to an R8 to a GT3.
