The correct answer is actually, 'Enough to spin the rear wheels at the end of the longest straight of every track we race on'.

This. My DD makes ~270hp/310tq. It's also pretty light. 3,124 pound curb weight. I've never felt like it didn't have enough power for normal daily driving.

And my fun car pretty much doesn't have torque. Go figure.

Wait a minute.....I thought M235i's made WAY more power and were faster than a M3....

At least that's what most M235 owners tell me (and themselves)

For Example: i own a 2000 Toyota Camry and i find myself flooring it to get on the freeway every time. Cars are going about 80mph and my 140hp camry is pretty weak. Passing people, merging, etc is a handfull with it as well. Im thinking around 250-300 (crank) is pretty ideal for a daily?
What a Camry? Your other car, the one that shows up on n54 tech is the minimum for a dd. But as others have stated, everything depends on how many hookers you carry in your trunk, and this value is adjusted according to dick size. For example, if you carry three hookers, carry fast food and trash and have a small dick, then your other car will not be adequate.

Depends on the requirements for the daily drive.

If it involves a lot of high-speed merging, or passing people on two-lane roads with short visibility lanes, then HP should be appropriate for the requirements.

But just a "normal" daily drive to work? I've gone anywhere from 120 HP to 300 HP and have been fine.

My DD makes about 350 in TQ, the wife's DD makes about 675 TQ

Agree, TQ > HP to maximize a daily driving experience.

HP is for the track or strip...
