Mine should be shipping any time now. There was a delay for sets ordered from the lego shop website. Some reports say the delay was due to packaging issues (the weight of some of the parts crushing some of the sub-boxes) while others are hoping for a reprint of the instructions which will "fix" the PDK shifting non-sequentially (FWIF, LEGO has said the out-of-order shifting was an intentional compromise) ... but that's okay, I need some more time to finish up my F40 anyway ...

I'm a huge LEGO fan in general but this is only my second Technic set ever. Based on that information I say yes it is very much worth it.

I love quality and well-designed packaging (well, I like anything well-designed) so this is an A+ for me. It's packaging is even better than the Architecture series!

My only gripe is I wished they designed the body to come apart from the chassis easier. As of now, you have to take a dozen or so red pins and a few other connectors to get it off.

Yeah I've read the reports too and it's very strange. You should check your local LEGO store to see if they have them in stock. There were so many at my local store and others have reported plenty of stock in their local stores as well.

You'll very much enjoy the Porsche -- much more challenging than the Mini, VW van, F40! I know it's different but still, It's quite nice!
