from my friends who are ibankers, or who used to work in ibanking (mostly at Morgan Stanley), they really hated it. between the hours and the crap work, most stuck it out as analysts for 2-3 years only to save enough for graduate school.

i only know one guy who did banking post grad school, he's an associate at UBS in SF. he hates his job, but his GT3 is quite a bit quicker than my e90 330i, ha ha.

btw, we all went to an ivy league school for our MBAs; its no guarantee of an ibanking job. my year, out of the 40-45 or so people interested in banking, only 10 or so got offers...and only3-4 were at Goldman or Morgan Stanley

the other upside of it is, that once you stick it out for a couple of years, you can apply for a lot other, much cooler jobs. a lot of corporate M&A, finance, consulting, private equity, etc jobs have under desired experience "previous investment banking experience preferred at a top-tier bank"...

Is there a difference in IB and IBD? My girl is getting relocated to China at the end of the year for IBD but she doesn't have a MBA or anything. I believe she said he will be analyzing the market or something.
