Looks good. Seems a bit larger, especially in certain areas like the rear quarter panel. It certainly brings attention to the larger rear wheels.

It's a good looking car, but Porsche pricing has gone through the roof lately and for no good reason.

I mean, heck - a nicely equipped 991 Turbo S Cab is MORE MONEY than a brand new Ferrari Portifino and only about $20K less than the new Ferrari 488 GTB! The GT2RS is the same price as the Ferrari 812 SuperFast and $100,000 more than a Lambo Hurican. These prices just seem obscene to me. For crying out loud, a Boxster costs more than the M4 these days if nicely equipped. I just don't get it.

Porsche is definitely losing the appeal of what it once was. I will take my 85 911 over this car any day of the week.

I hear that. The further away modern cars go beyond performance that can actually be exercised on public roads, the more sense it makes to me to go with older examples that can actually be stretched out and enjoyed. I'm not talking 'driving slow car fast is more fun...' either; more like 'fast enough car is enough'.

I usually try to withhold my opinions until seeing cars in the flesh. But this redesign, along with the over-evolution of the model, really bothers me. Sadly, the 911 can no longer return, in character, to the car it once was. RIP.

I think I'll hold onto my 991.1 for a while.

Until you get used to said HP then you want more. At least I do. So just start with a lot right off the bat.

I agree with this. Front grille looks terrible...I'd still own one in a heartbeat.

What's with the gap at the top of the front grille? Is that for air or just more poor design?

I like the central exhaust. Much more than the stupid quad pipe setup at the corners. Six cylinders should never have four tips. It was dumb on my M Coupe, it's dumb on 911's.

The GT cars with true center exhaust looks good. The Golf-like exhaust looks awful. It makes the rear look less wide compared to the quad setup.

It IS wide and comically larger than it used to be. Sometimes the truth hurts. I respect the water cooled 911's, but would only put my money on an air cooled one.

Looks awful, like they changed things just for the sake of changing things. The squared off look of the front bumper/grilles is terrible, similar to the awful bumper on the 718 Boxster/Cayman, and the rear just looks fat and bulbous.

I had a 997 and I agree the 997 is a better looking car than the 991 and soon to be 992.

However... The 991 is not as big as you might think. The M2 is a 'small' car right? Lets compare the size of the M2 to a 991.

- - - - - - - - - M2 - - - - - 991
Wheelbase - 106.0 - - 96.5

Length - - 176.2 - - 177.1

Width - - 73.0 - - 71.2

Height - - 55.5 - - 50.9

Weight - - 3450 - - 3153

The M2 is a bigger car. Is the 991 bigger than it should be? IMO, yes. Is the 991 a big car, or a midsize car, or a luxury coupe? Nope. Its a sports car that is getting bigger like almost every other car.

The 993 and 997 are the best looking 911s imho. The 996 is the only 911 that never really grew on me. I thought the 991.1 and 991.2 were a little odd at first (because they aren't as pretty as a 997) but they have grown on me and I think this 992 is very similar to a 991 and will grow on me as well.
