I like a man who wears a nice watch. It tells me he likes having nice things. (Important to a girl, IMO!) I personally really like the Mont Blanc "Summit" line. Very retro elegant.

I will almost always notice if a guy has a nice watch on and if I am talking to him I definitely will comment on it.

Personally, I would notice a nice watch long before I noticed a guy's shoes.

I know if a girl cared first about what watch I'm wearing that is one girl I don't need to be with. Nothing like a brand whore.

Agreed.

Girls who heed excessive attention about watches are either a) watch connoisseurs or b) expert gold-diggers (with a trained eye they can tell how rich men are via their jewelry, watches, shoes, and clothing...on top of car).

I tend to wear movados...its sleek and classy in my opinion...not too much going on in the watch..although that kind of hinders my ability to tell time...pretty hard to glance at the watch when all you see is a dot up top...but i'm very good when its 12:00..then I can tell you the time right away! ..alot of girls do notice my watch and say nice watch....i usually dont like the bulky watches with too much going on...

I haven't gotten into the higher end watches yet. When I got my current watch, I was simply looking for something with a second hand. I got a Skagen watch because it didn't cost much, but had a nice simple look.

However, my watch looked VERY cheap when I saw another physician with one of these (see below for comparison):

That sir is the Lange One!!! One of the finest timepieces if not the finest timepiece to come out of Germany IMHO. Platinum models run ~ $35k. Beautiful watch.

If you like that style you should also look into Glashutte Original... Very well respected manufacturer and ever so elegant if you ask me.

I had never seen a watch like that before. I could tell that it was very high quality, but had such a unique appearance. As a result, it really stood out in my mind. But I would have never guessed that it was so expensive (especially considering that he wears it to work everyday). I would have a hard time spending more for a watch than the value of my first three cars combined.

Yes the plat version commands about a 30% premium over the Rose Gold or Yellow Gold versions. This is truly an amazing watch. If you notice at around where the 2:00 to 4:00 location would be on a normal watch that complication is called a "Reserve de Marche" It's actually a meter to measures the amount of tension on the barrel thereby keeping the watch movement going. As the power dwindles the gauge will drop displaying to its owner that its time to wind the watch.

Start looking at Patek's with complications and highly rare and exclusive Tourbillon (sp?) movements and you're looking at well over $100k.

Welcome to the word of WIS: Watch Idiot Savants!

I would notice, not to see how much he spent, but to see how important time is to him. I couldn't be with a guy who didn't respect my time... ie, being late. I think all you need is one nice classic watch, rather than a bunch of $100 watches. And if he was a keeper, I'd buy him one.

The watch I saw looked exactly like the photo, but I didn't realize the case was platinum (unless they have a white gold or stainless version).

I understand the principle behind the automatic watches, but this Lange One has to be wound manually? Hmmm, I guess I won't be joining the ranks of the WIS's. For $35k I would expect someone, preferably of the attractive female persuasion, to come to my door each day and wind the watch for me!
