That thing is much more special than the current C63, and is much much more fun to drive than a M240...
My $0.02.
I actually test drove one
amazing engine...throttle response and sound
that transmission killed the car for me...if it was as a responsive as the zf8..I would be driving one of those
That tranny in sport auto mode is actually okay. Shift speed isn't a problem.
The response speed in manual mode is indeed $hitty. Pull the shift pedal, 2 seconds later it shifts.

Buddy jumped from a M240i to a C63. Doesn't regret it one bit. It's wicked fast and that torque is intense.

I owned a C32 AMG. MB routed the transmission cooling line through the coolant radiator and was made of plastic. Well of course that cracked and circulated coolant into the transmission. Thankfully, I had an extended warranty. They attempted to fix it twice but it was never the same again. Poor design.

Oh, the supercharger lag was horrible. If you like mashing the gas pedal and going fast from a dead stop then this is the car for you. If you enjoy driving and twists and turns then you will hate life.

Always wanted an AMG never again!

Did you just compare your ownership of a 16 year old car to a new one? I mean, I loved my M Coupe, but it's not like any engineer that worked on it is still at BMW.

I myself am biding my time until a nice certified 718 GTS can cross my garage's threshold.

If you loved your previous Cayman, but missed having immediate torque, then the 718 GTS really does seem like a really good option for handling and power in one package. Doesn't have the same "spirit" as the NA cars did, but I didn't feel like it was devoid of it either.
