Eh, I've never seen a car with a Dinan badge and thought more of it because the badge was there. Its not like the difference in seeing a 335 vs a M3, to me its just a badge doesn't really add much to what I think of the car.

When I had a e39 M5 I priced out performance parts and IIRC for $8k I would net a whopping 30HP.
No thanks. |

I would only sport a Dinan badge if in fact, the car was a full kit Dinan car, like a S2 or S3. Other than that, I feel like its putting a ///M badge on a 325i because you have side skirts.

I purchased my car in June 2016, and the prior owner a few weeks earlier had spent right around $6K on Dinan parts installed by the local BMW dealership. Intake, underdrive pulley, exhaust, pedals, ECU and DCT tune. Got a nice deal on the car, and practically got the Dinan stuff for free. Most of the Dinan parts remain on the car, as does the badge. Those that know, know. Most think it was the name of the Dealer I bought the car from.

Absolutely. It's a dead giveway that the owner is an OG BMW enthusiast!

Many people in this thread have purchased and are currently running DINAN products so "affording it" is not the issue. Do you have the DINAN badge displayed on your M5s?

It wasn't..."easy", but I did have to get the pedals to put me into 10. Most of the parts are suspension related - camber plates, springs, bump stop, strut tower brace. Also the previous owner had the brilliant idea to cut out the mufflers, so I got those coming too. I was really patient too (sales and such)

The coolness and Dinan reputation left with Steve Dinan when he sold the company. Don't get me wrong, I still appreciate the company and hold it in high regard, just not as high as in the 90's and early 2000's.

I had the supercharged e46m in mind when I made that comment. Dinan's S3R added 130hp to 333 on that platform...enough to be 'way more', IMO.

It's almost like you could call it the BMW of aftermarket parts. The most discerning shops I've been to refused to install parts from VRSF and similar, only wanting to go with Dinan for aftermarket, since they offer a warranty on their work they want the parts that they know will hold up for 4 years.

I am not a huge fan of them, but my e36 was sold new as a Dinan S1 so I left it on the car. It also has a Dinan serial number under the hood.

S85 stroker kit for 40k when it was released? Pahlease. Defending overpriced Dinan products is hilarious. Show me a single record Dinan holds. Please, find a record Dinan holds. No one runs a Dinan N54 tune. I wonder why...because he used to charge $1700 for a stage 1 tune than made less power than an off the shelf COBB map which was under 1/2 the cost. https://www.dinancars.com/products/e...rts/D330-0009B <--- Horrifically overpriced. Just like his $700 front strut bar. Fools and their money are often quickly parted. Dinan is for people who want to be a car enthusiast but never once changed their own oil. edit: You can tell what people care about on the Dinan website. Look under the specification page of a product, how many points it adds is right at the top. Literally the least important specification EVER. But that is what Dinan customers care about. Getting my points for a badge! So everyone can know how much money I threw away!

What leads you to believe this?
As an example: https://www.dinancars.com/products/s...arts/R190-9111 2.8k for 1 inch of adjustability and non adjustable $600 Koni yellows? For that money you can buy KW clubsports or V3s, Ohlins R&T DFVs, etc.

I wouldn't go put together enough points for one. But having it on my f10 550i sport is fine. The 550i badge is gone and it simply sports a Dinan badge.
Living in Albuquerque most people ask if it is my last name. LOL. There are a lot of people that put their last name as a chrome badge here. Some doctor in Georgia was the original owner of the car. He ate the costs. I know the parts aren't the best possible option but together they make a decently tuned car. |

I think if you put the same exact car side-by-side and one has the DINAN badge it gives you a diffferent impression and feeling... so if it is actually equipped with enough "points", why not? People are dying for their parts anymore, completely separate.

They're going for older rich guys who'd rather spend a few extra bucks (or 3-4x as much since they don't really care) than risk having any issues; just because we're not their target audience doesn't mean their products don't have their place.

Oh... really? Hmm, well, I keep being an enthusiast that never changes his own oil. Can someone tell me who did all the work on my car then?
