Black is the new silver. I can't see brake dust, kerb rash disappears using a paint marker. And it just makes the car look more aggressive.

Good one. I'd expand that to the darker colors too. Pure black is too much for me though. Silver/light is classic, but to me, I do like more aggressive wheels.

Dark wheels are a fad and the objective choice for them is based in a vortex of popularity. Wheels are one of the single greatest opportunities to accentuate a vehicles appearance. Pretending hoverwheel imaging and a less than easily observed styling is accentuating is nothing more than confirmatory bias in action.
Black wheels are absolutely disgusting. Some of the greys I can handle. Last edited by fiveohwblow; 06-09-2021 at 03:02 PM.. |

100% depending on the color of the car, but I'm generally not a fan of black wheels. I like contrast with the tires a the very least

I think I gravitate toward darker wheels, but really like contrast to the vehicle color. For a white or red car, I’d go with black wheels, but for a black car, I’d probably go with aluminum/silver or a machined look.

I like all colors of wheels and to me a lot depends on the style of wheel and color of the car. I like black, black chrome as well as gunmetal colors but sometimes a simple silver is the best.

I've had all finishes, black, gold, bronze, white, but gunmetal usually is my go-to since it looks good on all color cars.

Anyway, it's interesting many of you like the wheels to contrast w the rest of the car. I just think darker matches nicely and actually don't want those extreme contrasts. |

depends on the car and colors. black wheels usually give a more aggressive look.. and if you have large brake calipers it helps them pop. silver or lighter colored wheels are a bit more reserved/classy. GT3RS in lizard green or chalk... i'd want black wheels no question. GT3 Speedster/Touring in dark green with tan interior... i'd go silver wheels.
i've thought about changing my f80 wheels to silver... but it makes the blue in the silverstone stand out more which i dont want.

Bottom line, I loathe black wheels. They aren’t aesthetically pleasing as they are aesthetically deceptive. It’s logic to me but hey… “to each their own” right…? |

Hey, as I've said in the OP I'm not a fan of black wheels either (to me, they make the wheels 'disappear' and lose form) - I do prefer darker ones though. I'm not gonna diss those who like black, yup, TETO. |

Hey unless I start naming names I am not “dissing”. Don’t misinterpret a strong opinion from an insult.
