Read what you just wrote. “You”. Its your car. You drive it how you want. Have you let others drive your car how they please all day long with or without your knowledge? If you’re seasoned on the track would you let someone still in drivers training have fun out on the track in your car unsupervised? If the car was wrecked going even 35mph with a tech not paying attention anyone in their right mind would be pissed. What would your thoughts be going 104 and they hit a deer? Or as posted previous got pulled over and your car impounded?

This seems like a lot to get so worked up about. I may have had a conversation with the service manager (unlikely) but I wouldn't have made a video. Seems like the owner just wanted attention/likes.

While this does not seem to be too bad on the part of the techs, my only complaint would be, what if they wrecked it? That's the main problem I see here.

Yawn. Who cares. It's just 100mph. I do that daily.

Don't burn my clutch though or run my engine hard when cold, I'll strangle you in your chair for that.

A pretty by-the-book diagnostics drive in my opinion with a little two second romp on a straight deserted stretch of highway. I'd consider it a non issue.

But, it is a customer car so he should know better. And if the tech has impulse control problems then he should know the vehicle has a camera with a memory card and could be recording.

Of course. Being overly dramatic just to get clicks, likes and comments.

That would be a blessing. Then he can order a Z06 like he should have anyway

I guess in situations like this, I don't bother worrying about "what if". Nothing happened. At least nothing major. I'm not condoning what the tech did or excusing it in any way. I wouldn't want someone putting 16 miles on my car either, but this is being blown out of proportion, IMO.

Out of respect for other people and their property, the answer is no. If I were that tech, I would ask the owner of the vehicle if it was okay for me to drive the car at those speeds and give him/her/they a rationale as to why.

I'd probably be more upset if they told me they couldnt figure out the problem on a test drive cause they were babying it and I had to spend more of my time figuring it out.

Back when i was a mechanic, a guy brought in his carrerra for a vibration at high speed. I took it out, got to about 70mph with no vibrations, came back and told the guy i couldnt get it to do it. He was upset that i couldnt find the issue and he made me go back out on a drive, he came along, and we found the vibration at 120. best drive of my life.

This is how the situation should be handled IMO. Communication is key and if the techs talked to the owner and let him know what they need to do to test the car and why, then it might not have gotten to this point.

At the dealership I worked at, a tech was seen exceeding the speed limit in a car that was in for service and he was fired.
If you take a car in for service that exhibits a problem above the speed limit then its likely that it won't be addressed.
But thats the UK.
I guess in the OPs position I'd be a bit miffed that someone was speeding in my car

My principal concern would be if the car was still within its "break-in" period. If it were, I would be very upset; otherwise, only slightly.

If the owner explicitly said don't drive my car, and the tech took it out w/o his permission, the owner should be pissed.

It's your property, some people are more or less anal about it, and they have every right to be.
