I kinda do, but don't understand that mentality either.

The mentality is if you're going to buy a car like this anyway, it may as well be something worth buying and driving so long as the budget permits. I'll admit, I've never shopped this car because I thought second row captain's chairs with a passthrough weren't available. All of the photos I've ever seen showed a second row bench. But if it does exist on this generation, this is an almost certain purchase for me once the market comes back down to Earth in a few months or years.

I'm not loyal to any brand, but my wife loves Lexus, and won't drive a minivan, so this is the winner for me. She hates changing cars too, so I know she'll drive this for 15-20 years as long as she doesn't smash it. Her 2016 RX350 currently has 31k miles on it, so this could potentially get us through until our kids are beyond college age and we don't even need it anymore.

That, and this one purchase would let me buy more of my own cars over time with that leftover budget

Yeah I know what he meant. But saying that is like saying, I can't understand why people would shell out flat screen TV money for this bicycle.

They're completely different things that serve completely different purposes.

On a separate note... I don't allow my daughter any food in the car. If she has muddy shoes, she'll be sitting in the car barefoot. And any weird foreign objects she's holding that present a risk to my leather seats will be tossed immediately. Did that result in a few tantrums at times? Sure, but gotta teach these kids some respect!

I believe that is done on purpose. BMW has expressed a desire to differentiate all of their models to some extent rather than have just bigger/smaller versions of essentially the same car.

We try most of the time, but we all know it can be a losing battle. We keep a small cup in the door card for those 'foreign' objects. It's usually forgotten by the time we are home and can be thrown out.

Of course, the odd time they'd ask for it a month after....

I guess sales figures is saying that it works... modern consumers are odd...

Each to his own but fuck me dead you could buy a 997 911 and a competent people hauler for the same price as this thing.

Lexus Announces LX Pricing

2022 Lexus LX600 Pricing Ranges from $88,245 to $127,345

The LX600 starts at $88,245, which is just $1215 more than the 2021 Land Cruiser's base price (and $405 less than the 2021 LX570). The wide range of LX models available includes Premium and Luxury trim levels, along with an F Sport model and a flagship Ultra Luxury trim that features a plush four-seat setup.

The base LX600 comes with two rows of seats, providing five-passenger capacity, while the $96,345 LX600 Premium adds a third row of seats and holds seven people. The F Sport starts at $102,345 and features a different front grille, 22-inch wheels, a limited-slip differential, adaptive dampers, and special bits of interior trim. The Luxury model is $104,345 and includes mostly interior upgrades including nicer leather and an upgraded audio system.

And finally, the $127,345 Ultra Luxury costs significantly more owing to its decked-out cabin. It swaps out the seven-seat, three-row setup for a pair of rear captain's chairs that have massage and a recliner function for the passenger-side seat with a sliding ottoman.

All LX600 models have a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 engine with 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. A ten-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are standard across the board.

I sat in this at the LA Auto Show. I had no idea I had climbed into the new LX. The exterior was whatever and interior felt very generic. The materials were nothing exemplary and dash design looks more Toyota than $100k SUV. Unfortunate because Lexus has shown us what type of interior they are capable of with the LC.

This wins on reliability, but otherwise I don't see any advantages over the X7, GLS, Escalade, Range Rover, etc.

Looks alright I would get it with the 18 inch wheels for sure. But hard to justify this for $100k. I think I would rather get the upcoming Sequoia which would be a solid $30-40k cheaper, if not more.

Looks really rugged for a Lexus but I still think it's ugly.
