Becoming stranded/lost in a large, open, empty place where you literally cant do anything, and theres really no chance anyone is going to find you. Like in the middle of the ocean, or middle of space. I don't know that its a fear, but thinking about it makes me really uncomfortable.
Also something happening to me while I'm away from home and my dog doesn't understand why I never came back. Or something like a fire happening at home while I'm away and my dog is scared, trapped inside and I'm not there to protect her. That's about it. |

I fear that I won't have the courage to take myself out before I slide into the bumbling, smelly, deaf diaper years, the last 10yrs of my Dads life were horrible for him and I'm determined not to do that to my family.

Heights. You ever stand at the edge of the Grand Canyon, or from the top of a skyscraper and look down and go...., that'd be one gnarly fucking fall without a parachute.
And then you see people taking pictures on the edge of cliffs with no restraint system?! These feet are staying on solid ground you whacky fucks. |

I was in Chicago and went to the skyview place once. I really didn't think much of it as I went to step out into the glass, but as I did and I looked down my knees damn near buckled. It was a really weird feeling and I had never felt it before. But after a second or two then it was nothing and I was like a kid in there looking at everything. Watching those videos of guys free climbing towers, or hanging off skyscrapers gives me anxiety tho ![]() |

I don't know you, but I now dub you my best internet friend. Do you have one of those cards for your wallet and on the window of your home?

I need to get these. It's wild y'all are mentioning this because we were supposed to have bad storms with tornadoes yesterday. I thought about Luca being home alone and what if our roof got ripped off or something wild. Who would know he was in there? Everything was fine but it wasn't a comfortable feeling.

Cancer
I was a heavy smoker for many years. Quit almost 30 years ago but the fear is always in the back of my mind. Took me almost 5 years to quit. It's probably been too long and cancer won't get me, THAT way. I quit smoking so I beat cigarettes. That's a victory right there. They say if you live long enough cancer will get you one way or another.

What is very weird is that despite my fear of falling, do you ever get the feeling of you are about to throw yourself over the edge when you get up to it? Like you don't want to, but you think your body/brain might do it anyways? I do. That's probably why I don't like to spend any significant time at the edge of something high. |

How about the fear of falling in dreams? I get those. Falling off a building or a cliff or something. And then I wake up with a sudden jerk. Startled, heart is pounding. What just happened?
I know... the dream thread. lol But it is a fear. ![]() |
