yeah, it was an easy choice after test driving a 981 Cayman S 6MT and a
2.5 Cayman GTS back to back..... the 718 sharper more aggressive looks, the updated tech and that instant torque of the turbo made it a no brainer....sure it doesn't sound as good as the flat six, but sounded pretty good from the cockpit. After testing them back to back, thanks to Porsche of San Diego which actually had two manuals to compare, I started my search for a 718 6MT sold my 52k mile 981 CS w/PDK on 6/3 and was on a plane to Tucson by 6/9 to pick up my 2018 base 718 6MT CPO with only 16K on the clock in graphite blue metallic ....haven't stopped grinning since Last edited by Socal_R8; 06-14-2022 at 10:23 PM.. |

nice choice. i rented a 718 boxster on turo and enjoyed it. Even though it was the basest of base models with no options the ride quality and handling was impressive, the power delivery and turbo spool up was nice and progressive, sound wasn't bad and is better than an s55 imo. and its got enough luggage space for 2 people easy.

thanks! yeah, I really liked that color in the ad on the Porsche website and once the dealer sent me a walk around video of the car I was sold...sent a deposit to hold it. funny thing is, I was having bad thoughts that I might not like it once I saw it in person as my salesman picked me up at the airport to take me to the dealership to finally see it with my own eyes, but those doubts quickly vanished when we rolled up and I saw it in the outdoor showroom that they had it in....it was love at first sight!! been a week so far and its been a blast |

People who dismiss it solely on cylinder count don't know what the F they are talking about. Porsche engineered it to be extremely capable, drivable, sporty, etc. I race one at AutoX that has an insane exhaust on it that makes it sound better than any other car out there, 6, 8, how many ever cylinders the other cars have. It does everything well and there's a reason it always makes the best-sports-cars lists.

yep!
had horrible experience yesterday tho Had hook up with one of best suspension shops in SoCal and drove 50 miles to drop off car for spring install with wife following in the F32 to take me back home...left house at 7:30 am and was supposed to pick back up at end of day around 4pm get a voice mail at about 1pm to call them.....uh oh call them back and dude tells me the vendor sent them the wrong springs and that they can't get any until the 15th I'm like wow!!! long story short, I wasted day off, put 200 miles on BMW with two round trips another 100 on the Cayman and about 5 hours of drive time They will take care of me when they get the springs in, but I'm still so bitter about the experience as you can imagine!!! |

I don’t think so, they are completely different sizes. You’d probably have to replace the side and rear panels. They might bolt up the same, but I have no clue. A 718 is more like an evolved 981 so there are some similarities.

Good looking car. Seems quite a few BMW owners are picking up Caymans. Not surprising as BMW tends to be the gateway drug to Porsche.

You don’t feel any difference in driving between the base and the S ?
