I’ve got some good contenders though that aren’t crazy overpriced. |

I’m going to see how fast I can order the options I’ve looked into. So far, Im in between the Hamilton and the skeleton one you sent and changing the band. I’m checking out the band website you sent me for options that would look good. I did like the one you linked Thank you so much for your help! As far as letting him go shopping, even with a budget he might blow that He likes surprises so I’m trying to get my ass in gear |

A lot of good input here, particularly the personal-ness of choice, so here are some random musings that are hopefully helpful.
I always thought Hamilton was a good value since a lot of their models use the same movements used in other larger name watches at the same ballpark price and above. Most don't know the name but they are decent and I think still have a good rep within the watch community. Seiko makes good options as well. Someone mentioned this, too, but I don't know if it was further touched upon: movement....mechanical, automatic, etc... Personal preference but some people don't want to have to wind up a watch or use a watch winder. If you husband is fond of any of his watches that have a broken or worn out strap, you can also get replacement straps as an add-on gift. There are a LOT of options out there. (colors, material, thickness, style, etc...). Good luck and let us know which direction you go!

I love my Breitling (which is blue) but I am loathe to wear it other than when I’m away or when I go out.
My everyday watch is a Tissot Chrono XL and it does everything I need and I love the style and it’s blue! |

Can't recommend any watch as I think we have totally opposite tastes.
However I have been really "into" the omega moonwatch recently. I love the look of it with a leather strap. I'm not spending $6-7k on a watch I would not wear much anyways. So I found a moonwatch "homage" aka a knockoff, unfortunately it only comes with the stainless steel band. So I bought a leather band and I got this kit below: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1 I'm hoping to also try using that kit to change out the batteries on my old watches that have been sitting around for years. Anyways might be something worth getting if he wants to fix up his old watches. |

You may want to look at Christopher Ward watches. They sell some very nice COSC-certified watches for a reasonable price. The CW watches go for about $1000 - $5000. If you wanted a blue face, I don't think you could go wrong with the following:

How about a 3H military (Maverick) watch (Around 1000,-), or a Tutima/Glashütte SA M2 Seven (Around 1700,-)?

I have a TAG, about 14 years old, never wear it.
I have a Jaeger (sleek, nice, dress watch), about 16 years old. Never wear it. I have a no-name black plastic watch given to me when I retired. I wear it when I’m around the person/company that gave it to me (not the company I retired from). They engraved the back. That’s the watch I’ll never sell. My iPhone tells time fine. So do all the other clocks I’m surrounded by. |

This might be a bit out of your budget, but based on your description of what you would like (and seeing his collection) the Omega seamaster diver 300m co-axial master chronometer 42mm is one of the best value watches out there.
It`s a classic watch that can also be used as dress watch. |

I ordered a Hamilton and Christopher Ward. We shall see which one the winner is. I saved a few others for an anniversary gift so I’m ahead of the game on that gift. Thanks to all who helped!
