Oh, so he randomly picked Canadians when it could've been Armenians or something else? I thought I was gonna get some insight on the joke haha.

I watch it for entertainment not so much for info on a car I actually want to buy.

If I'm looking to actually buy a car I will look at reviews from more serious people who spend way more time driving the cars. Also other channels that go into all the details of the cars in much more depth than he does.

I would equate watching him to watching most of Top Gear. They spend like 80% of the show fucking around doing silly shit at maybe 20% doing real car reviews. He's the 80%.
100% this. Doug's "reviews" are generally entertaining, and I feel his content is relatable and sets him apart from the rest of the folks on YouTube rattling off specs or drag racing. There's a sort of low-key honesty and sensibility about the way he goes about his videos too that I personally like.

The crew at Throttle House. Love the dynamic between Thomas and James. But if I were to pick from the two, it would be Thomas. The guy can convey how a car drives in a way few can. Not only that, the man can drive. It also helps that he races.

One of my favorite videos they've done was when Chris Harris did a collab with them. It was pretty fun.

Schmee or however you spell his name annoys the crap out of me. I tried to watch one of his videos and the way he talks just grated me the wrong way. Didn't even make it through the video.

Not sure how the collective feels about Savagegeese with Mark and Jack. I've been watching them from their early beginnings. Their video production has increased in quality over the years. But I miss when it was more slap stick when Todd and Scott were fixtures of the channel. Jack's presentation skills have definitely gotten better from when he first did reviews. I do miss when he would go full "ape" on cars. He still does at times with recent reviews but not nearly the same as when he first got onto the channel.

Not all reviewers, but here's my list.

The good:
Henry Catchpole - Overall favorite
Chris Harris - Love this guy, but he's very redundant
Jason Camissa - Love this guy and the show (even with his ego)
The Smoking Tire - THE OLD ONE with just Matt
Throttle House - Fun duo, but really meh in the end
Jay Leno's Garage - Great stuff on here

The bad:
Doug Demuro - Informative, but just on my nerves from the moment go
Carwow - Wow, you can drag and roll race handling cars - skip it entirely
The Smoking Tire - With Zach

The ugly:
Schmee - Can't stand this guy, won't spend a minute watching him
Supercar Blondie - Just say no to whatever she does

I'm more for AutoTopNL and Misha, they're who I watch the most for sure.

I'm more for AutoTopNL and Misha, they're who I watch the most for sure.

I think I agree 96.6% but I like Mat Watson and his mate Yani , I always have a laugh

I like Jethro, Steve Sutcliffe etc as well.

I do not like Jonnie Lieberman. Camissa is ok.

But at the top end you 'forgot' Harry Metcalfe/Harry's Garage
And of course the Daddy: Tiff Needell!

And a big big big fan of The Grand Tour with Jeremy, Hammond and May...

And overhere we have some Germans who are the best:
-Tim Schrick...woah
GRIP TV
- Matthias Malmedie
-Cindy Allemann she is as fast as Vettel in a 488...

-Nicky Schelle

-Alexander Bloch(engineer)
-Christian Gebhard, but he doesn't talk very much (SportAuto, test Nordschleife)

And this supernice guy Christian Menzel, I talked with him for 20mins at Nürburgring Parking when the missus was in the restaurant a few years ago, though he stated my (back then ) OG M2 was too heavy, we talked about my former 1M , his love for BMW Motorsports, football rivalry Netherlands-Germany.

Fast Lap example:

Edit a new one, he isn't very fond of FWD cars...just like me

Cheers
Robin

Goes without saying. I hate to admit that Jeremy is my favorite, but he's also the worst at times. The 3 are great together for sure, but give me classic Top Gear over The Grand Tour.

I definitely forgot to add Vicki from 5th gear, she's pretty cool IMO.

Henry Catchpole, Chris Harris, Jason Camissa, and The Smoking Tire (Matt AND Zack) tend to provide the most useful feedback with decades of context to back it up. I would add Randy Pobst and the folks at Everyday Driver as well, providing nuance versus 90% of same repeating rhetoric all outlets hit.

Savagegeese - quality but I have no time for long format videos unless I am ready to put my $$ down on said car. Tough to put much weight into anyone's opinion these days aside from getting my own seat time.

My wife who loves cars would say "watching other people drive cars you like is the dumbest entertainment." With that in mind she is a fan of Chris Harris & Jason Camissa, credit where credit is due.

Not exact order

Thomas on Autogefuhl (sp?) except for his obsessive aversion to “animal skins”
Alex on Autos - very useful info and ratings for braking, noise, ride, etc.
Throttle House - love their BMW 850 vid. James saying it was time to exercise his road superiority!
Savage Geese
Raiti - dork, but can be entertaining
Bey bc he giggles like a little girl when he’s in a fast car
Motormouth
Achilles - but he shows too much of his face and not enough of the cars

Thank you for saying this. His obsession over it is annoying. Some people like the look feel and smell of leather, get over it.

I can't stand Throttle House and The Straight Pipes. The attempt at situational/sophomoric comedy is simply not funny to me and more irritating than anything. Just review the car and provide valuable insights to your audience. I find that a lot of these YT'ers benefit from "performing" and having great production. Very few of actually provide any real insights and are good at what they do.

A few that I enjoy:

Harry's Garage
Top Gear
savagegeese
The Smoking Tire

Funny, I find him unwatchable (I know I'm not alone). He's just way, WAY too unnaturally animated and he hasn't always been like that. It's a very annoying act. I also don't need a 12 minute diatribe on a cupholder. Hard pass.
