So might the M50e feature ~483hp like the new X5 50e? If so, sick. I have a 2024 X5 50e and love the battery range, but am missing my 2018 X3 M40i, which was so much sportier (couldn't part with it -- gave to my dad).

The X5 is cushy and all, but the 2018 X3 M40i was my favorite car ever. The two combined would be... incredible.

I have edited the top post to clarify some things and remove the totally BS note about the focus on EVs (I believe I stuck it there way before I knew more about the NA5).

One more correction: no M50e xDrive - that's the name for a potential X5, not X3.

I don’t understand them not offering a high end stereo?? If I want to blow $3500 on a B&W stereo, let me. I don’t get it. The HK systems are embarrassingly bad in modern BMWs.

My wife has a 2013 m3 with the B&O upgrade and dear god it’s amazing. They used to offer the high end stereos in the lower model cars, why not bring it back. There are obviously people here who will pony up, and that’s some good margins.

Considering everything is going to EV not many manufacturers are going to develop all new ICE engines. Instead we will see a lot of improvements from existing.

My comment was more geared towards the fact that it would be dated from a looks and technology stand point during that timeframe. I have no doubts they’ll be able to make iterative updates to the B58 engine and make good use out of it for the next 15 years.

Hey I’m sorry but I need to rant.
I like BMW and I’m on my sixth one right now, but what is going on with BMW? The USA, China and Western Europe is shifting quickly to electric cars. Faster than probably anyone predicted.

BMW was on the forefront of this with the i3 but stopped developing the tech and now they are woefully behind. The i4, i5, i7 are just ice cars retrofitted with electric drivetrains. The new i5 has pathetic range. All of them have stupid useless grills. Also the split head light thing on the 7, X7 and XM is majorly dumb and wasteful.

BMW knows better. The first tenant of good design is form follows function. Lately BMW is putting thief old design language as being the driver of their designs. Big kidney grlls on EVs make no sense.

I know the Neue Klasse will change all that, butit’s late, BMW is woefully behind. Practice makes perfect and every manufacturer knows it. BMW is squandering time milking their ICE cars until the last possible minute.

Please stop making this crap and start using physics to design your cars. stop with the folded paper and build stronger more organic shapes that flow through the air.

Build your future cars sooner and build these EVs with the same innovative spirit that built the z1, the i3 and original x5, build a power train with superior range , acceleration and an interior that’s modern human friendly and tactile, you have all the tools. Please move forward.

Because only a tiny fraction of their sales are EV's the VAST majority are ICE cars and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Also not everyone wants their EV to look like a space ship with 4 wheels. Some just want it to look like a normal car....

Completely hypothetical but I didn’t see tail pipes on one of them - any chance it’s an iX3? Also noticed the trailer hitch. Would be a great model Y competitor.

Yes, or covered them. Or, you could be right and it's the E version.

Just adding fuel to the conspiracy theory here - I was in the tesla which is very quiet and I didn’t hear engine noise from either of them. And they sped up quickly at speed. Just throwing this out there. Also look at the gas cap cover - looks super fake.

I am going to sleep well tonight knowing bmw is releasing a model Y killer.

Wishful thinking…?
