'03 WRX here, and I'll be keeping it as well. If I had the extra money, I would love to find an old 2.5RS coupe (GC8) to do a drivetrain swap in.

^ saw your post in that other thread.. i have a 2.5rs (real similar to yours actually - brp with gunmetal wheels). depending on academic/professional orchestration the debate is whether to do a 2.5l sti swap for a few years or buy a 1er. basically if i want a ph.d, no 1er..

I've got a GC 2.5RS. It had an '05 STi swap in it. It spent nearly a year in the shop. When the second engine eventually seized, it crushed my soul. The car was dead to me. I lost all desire to even look at car forums for the longest time. I was a moderator on quite possibly the best RS forum on the web, and I basically walked away (feel bad about that). Now it has a second hand, leaky, noisy, EJ25 of questionable origin in it. I dont even wash it anymore. Paint and clear coat pealing off. So sad...

We currently have one BMW (96 328ic) and three Subarus (sort of). An 01 Forester S, 95 SVX and a 05 Saab 9-2x (aka Subaru WRX, aka Saabaru).
All have different personalities and are great cars. Unfortunately the SVX will have to go very soon and the 328ic will be going once the 135i cabrio comes in. |

my sti took a similar path but no hard core seizes ...i babied that car with the best cosmetic mods and engine and ecu mods....from jdm lips and spats to recarros seats and matching black door cards. Then the clutch was shuddering and I had it fixed and then had the front end repainted and sold it to a dealer in ohio for 23k with 50k on the clock. They turned around and sold it to some dude who blew the clutch and front axle and put on the wrong headers. Last i heard it was getting turned back to stock and sold off in pieces that is truly sad. on another note i loved the svx when it first came out...my bro was looking at that but ended up with a countour svt which we turbo'd later

good lord.. some sad stories around here.

yeah if i decide to not go back and get my PhD i can afford the payments on a 1er easily but I'm thinking i'll end up working for a couple years and come back to poor-boy grad school. but if thats the case i should be able to finish the swap while im working; then maintenance parts should be affordable enough and few and far between that i can afford to maintain that and still work my phd, long as i do it right the first time (which is luckily the only time ill be able to!). im a fan of public transportation anyway haha. and honestly if i do that i'm gettin P1's without a doubt. although as it stands now i like the stock ride height etc... curious what you want for em though? best you can get for that car |

Soon-to-be previous owner of an '04 STi. At one time it was a big-turbo car making highly decent power; however, it's rocking an '06 STI motor now (Stage II w/Protune).
I _could_ (should?) order a 1er any day, but I've been procrastinating over the deal. |

I will post a pic as soon as I can...Any day now brother! It's been a loooooooooong wait - 14 months for waiting list and build that included the 997T/GT2 production delays. It's C.White on Black wheels. Full black leather interior. PCCB. Sport Chrono. BiX. And I added the Euro-spec roll cage. BTW, your new 135i looks great! I saw your thread over at NASIOC with the 3 other 1-series owners I believe. Great pics. Glad you are enjoying it. |

I just recently sold my 04 Stage 4 wrx. I had RCE tarmac 2's sitting in the garage still in their box when I sold the car. Too bad I didn't get a chance to put those bad boys on. Oh well, new owner will be happy 135i ordered and on the way.
