Let's be honest, how many bad car reviews have you watched recently? Other than you know obvious or controversial vehicles.
I think the trend on car reviews lately is that people just don't mention much of the complaints worrying they won't get another review car from manufacturer or dealer.

The X3 is an important car for BMW to not eff-up. I’m not surprised that the top core consumer trim with all options acquits itself well. I’d agree that in concept this SUV doesn’t look like it is 75k after MSRP plus taxes and fees. The 5 series has some plastic in spots but it still managed to feel more like a mid-70k vehicle on the balance. Admittedly the woven textile dashboard option does diversify the materials a bit.

As some folks who actually work in the automotive industry have explained, that's an overly simplistic take. The incentives involved for all the stakeholders result in more nuanced ecosystem dynamics than what you're describing. Car OEMs also need journalists and reviewers, and have some inherent incentives to not interfere.

You’re not wrong

I drove the m50i extensively and the hood is higher than I might have expected it to be but the car drives well until you get it over 100 then it’s super sketchy IMO

Feels heavy AF as well, but planted

bro, who drives an X3 over 100? X3MC, sure, but not the regular soft sprung X3.

Watch his other car reviews. Most of them are negative or lukewarm at best. This is why I watch him - he just doesn’t give a ****. So for him, this is a truly glowing review.

Not the prettiest SUV on the market, but I like that they whittled the drag coefficient down nicely. Form does indeed follow function.

The interior is not my cup of tea personally, but I’m sure it will be just fine for the target market of this car.

Here’s hoping they make the X4 less of a turd design-wise.

The hate boner for this car is hilarious. It gets a positive review and that must be some sort of conspiracy. LOL

Here in NYC, if it has a B58 they’re sending it to the moon. X3 chassis yes, some just care for the power plant underneath the bonnet.

True, and it’s interesting at the start of this video when he talks about “a lot of plastic, a lot of plastic” etc, but seems hesitant to get into it beyond that.

I also wonder, given his comments about the small dealership that supplies his review BMW, if that’s a factor in critiquing.

That said, I found this reviews informative, and I think some of it was “read between the lines”.

Once the honeymoon period is over, and more cars are with customers, we’ll start to get more feedback.

I was hoping the G45 would be the logical success to my current car, but I’m not feeling the love so far.

Maybe you need to learn to drive.

Nearly everyone in Germany does.

I took my X3 quite often up to 125mph on the German autobahn. No problem at all. With a X3 M40i you could do 150mph if you want to.

It’s more difficult now in the UK due to average speed camera, and the sheer amount of speed cameras on motorways. That said, going over 100moh still happens

There’s some YouTube video of a review at around 163mph on a M40d in Germany.

BMWs are much better engineered inside than outside. Looks ugly, interior as well, but technical execution is great. Hope with new classe design will also look good.

BMw is loosing it's Design Identity, sad but true.

Soo good engineers, soþo poor designers.

This Chinese EVs inspired, 2025 X3 is not ugly to me, but it is soo bland. Doesn't make anyone's heart race.

I would love to see BMW design return to it's classic elements (grills, headlights , etc) in an evolutionary way for each new generation.

I don’t know enough about the Chinese auto market to assert that is true but it would make a lot of sense. China is final frontier for the automobile market. Big growth market. I’m sure Europeans bemoaned that BMWs were becoming too American several decades ago. “I wanted something from Munich not Detroit!” You can almost imagine someone in Germany uttering that, right?

I will add that part of this could be due to the fact that they simply dumped the runflats and played a little with the adaptive suspension tuning... not exactly monumental work but could made solid improvements.

I'd be curious to see a comparo of someone that has an M40i on regular non rft tires vs an m50 back to back.

Yes, that makes sense. But then again evolutionary designs like 911s, Volvos, A8s, etc, retain their identity and long term appeal, I believe luxury brands should try to evolve not redo.
