I agree.

I’m not that tech-savvy but I’ve adapted to the M50 very quickly. My wife has the new Mini that runs the same software and we’ve adapted to that too.

I few physical buttons, shortcuts, voice commands and familiarity with the screen have none the trick. It’s also worth noting that this issue isn’t limited to BMW - some manufacturers even have indicator controls on the screen!

I don’t view the interior as cheap at all. To me it’s modern, crisp and fresh with no unnecessary clutter. It feels solid and well put together.

A delight to own and drive.

I have the same problem. There is a service bulletin (51 29 24) that effects multiple models. Part is on back order according to my dealer.
Looking at older posts, some of the last gen had a similar issue.

Good synopsis of the car BTW.

Oh boy. Thanks for the heads up. Guess it's time to talk to the dealer.

It’s nice to see a thread meant to highlight issues with the new X3 filled with so many folks having good things to say about it.

Agree with most of what’s been said here. As someone who’s had my M50 since launch day I’m glad to see more people finally getting behind the wheel of these new models and counteracting some of the initial tide of knee-jerk negative sentiment from people who never even saw one in person, let alone driven one.

One big concern for me when I found out about the plastic door handle is how would it handle on a blustery, windy day? It's been really windy by me lately and when forced to park with a car to your left, I'm always afraid of the driver side door whipping into that parked car by a gust of wind!

Any confidence that plastic handle will hold?

I use the gloss plastic latch to open the door but when closing I use the recess in the arm rest. I’ve never used the latch to close the door.

We’ve had a lot of very windy days recently too and i’ve always been wary of a gust of wind catching the door and flinging it open. In those circumstances and on previous cars I’ve always gripped the door somehow to ease it open and on the G45 that’s the recess in the armrest.

Yes, I forgot about the recess. I think the Lexus NX has the same!
