Oh yeah... looking at that list of cars, definitely someone who doesn't care what others think.
Does your mom run a self-confidence workshop by any chance? I'm sure there are many who could benefit greatly from her wisdom. |

She does run a workshop though, I'll enroll you for $100,000K or a gently used G550. ANYWAY, just talked to her and she decided on the 400h. Thanks for all of your advice and help guys/gals, it's much appreciated! I think this is the best choice for comfort and reliability. Thanks again! |

+1 on the GLK. It is reasonably-priced and it seems to get good reviews from Edmunds, C&D and R&T.
I would get one for myself if I need an everyday runabout and road trip cruiser.

Lexus dealer told me today that they didn't make an '09. He has "brand new" (almost 2 years old already) '08s for around $44k. He said '10 trucks will be available to drive off the lot in April/May and are marked at $51k.
He also said for my area, there are no options. They all come fully loaded with navi, BT, etc. Which kind of sucks for my mom because she's not interested in all of that and could have gotten a cheaper model with less options. Anyway, just thought I'd share in case anyone is thinking of the 400h. Peace!

I don't get it. He said there are no 09's being made?
She can't get the options she wants or doesn't want? Neither city listed on your location are what I would call "In the woods". Regarding the "This is how we get them here" comment. Sounds like a bozo looking for a pressure sale victim if what he is saying is true. HAVE HER GO LOOK AT THE GLK. edit: Did she buy one of these from Bozo?

Yes, he told me they did not make any of the RX400h in 2009. All the "new" cars they have are 2008. And, yes, when he told me what the price was, I asked if that was the base price and he said no, it's for the fully loaded with navi. And I asked him, well can she get one without all that extra stuff for a cheaper price and he said all the trucks delivered (I'm talking St. Louis) to the area (which he said consisted of a pretty big radius encompassing like 60 dealers or something) are all the same, fully loaded. But April? God dammit.

Update: Called another dealer and he said you can get the 2010 450h with or without the navi, which is great! It's about 6k cheaper w/o. This dealer also said End of Feb/beginning of March. They will have the 350 at the autoshow here in STL this weekend.

My wife bought a 400h and she hates SUVs, but loved the Lexus. It also came one way, fully loaded, but they were so eager to move them, they gave us the one in the middle of the showroom for the basically the base price. They also threw us more money on our A6 trade-in than we expected. I think what helped was that I wanted to leave (we had a good price on a Mercedes), but she was very interested, so they had to make quick decision to close the deal.
