HAHA, Brembos on a Hyundai. As if they really need it, their newer standard brake systems can, in some respect, hold their own against many other competitors.

Probably just the dyno calibration. The rest of the numbers don't look like it's putting down more power than the manufacturers ratings would suggest.

I'd say it's fair to call the G37 a bit slab-sided after comparing these two side-by-side.

If I'm not mistaken, BMW's brakes are manufactured by Brembo sans the Brembo logo. I may be wrong.

Nissan must be pretty pissed. The Koreans stole their car and made it cheaper.
These G vs G reviews are kind of useless. How does the GC fair against its price competitors? That would be a more intelligent comparison and probably a fairer tribute to what Hyundai may have accomplished.

I'm sure there will be plenty of other comparisons but this is a fair one as well.

Comparing by likeness rather than price. That's how Hyundai rolls, considerable bang for buck w/ the better warranty.

In the 22,000-30,000 range though, there's just the retro 3 and the rest are really FWD cars. You've got the 370Z starting at $30,000 but Hyundais are going to sell less than MSRP whereas 370Zs are going as high as 37,000.

Plus you get a lot more standard features in the Gen Coupe. Not to mention that most of the hype is over the 2.0T starting at $22,000 and the R-Spec at $23,750. That's at least $10,000 less than the 370Z and only a few thousand will be necessary to make it faster than the Z.

The R-Spec is the real deal, as you said. It has all the goodies and none of the fluff, for a price that's more than a bargain.

I can't help but love the 370Z though...gotta try that synchro revmatch thing.

Oh yeah, I get a little carried away sometimes being excited about one car or another but the 370Z is definitely a great car. Interior 2 stars, exterior 4, performance 5.

Don't be hating! The Spec-R model will probably be my next car. Seeing as how the 2.0T block is the same as an evo, the engine will be able to handle 400+whp easy. Brembo's is a good thing, since this car will definitely be posting up amazing track times. Seeing as how the LSD and huge brakes will shoot this car past the turns. Your 325 doesn't have either, so good luck and have a nice day!

"Accelerating the Genesis quickly can be tricky because of a drivetrain protection feature built into its engine calibration. Shift the Genesis coupe aggressively at redline and you'll occasionally experience a power cut in your target gear which lasts 3 seconds."

Does anyone know if this power cut will be on the 2.0T? If not, it makes for the more attractive model.

Wrong, the turbo is too small to make 400whp unless you upgrade. Cams are less aggressive, mivec only on intake side, and internals are weaker. Just because it uses the same block as evo X doesn't mean it'll make 400whp just as easy as evo X.

But when these things are built, watch out!

I would think a tune will eliminate it very easily.

+1. But that begs for another, probably even more important question: Why implement a drivetrain protection feature in the first place?

The price gap would certainly shorten if people started blowing transmissions by removing the feature/increasing hp. I guess we won't really know until people start seeing what the limits on the car are.

That much is apparent. Which seems to me that Hyundai might be trying to cover their asses for a less than robust drivetrain. Hasn't the G coupe been out in Korea for a while now? I wonder if anyone has run into any tranny problems.

Maybe they just put the protective feature on the GT version and not track for V6. Or just the V6 and not the I4 since Hyundai is predicting 75% of sales will be the 2.0T and that's what tuners will likely buy.

So casuals get the V6 and don't break anything.

We'll have to wait and see.

I didn't see the bore or stroke of either motor, piston speeds, rod angles/ratios, flow of the intake/exhaust manifolds would all help to explain the differences between the two.

I by no means to some of you may seem like I know anything. But, my prediction is that the initially the 3.8 will have only merely exhaust, intake, and suspension upgrades.

On the other hand the 2.0T model will have piggybacks, exhaust, intake, internals, suspension, etc etc. Hope tuners will aggressively push out products for this car.

Lets not all forget Hyundia's LEGENDARY 10Yr/100k WARRANTY!!
