Have they actually tested this theory? I'm pretty sure interiors of cars get hot because of the greenhouse effect of the windows. Tinting helps...

I'm fairly sure a big black metal box would still remain quite cool on the inside on sunny days. Sure the exterior would get hot, but not really the interior as no direct sunlight is adding energy to it.
