I dont have any before pictures, so I cant really show you how awful the backyard was, but as I said, stage 1 is finished... I have a decent size deck, but next to no land, so this is what I am choosing to do with whats left...
Stage 1: - Tearing out dead sod (from when I bought the place... never took root) - Regrading so I can put in two flower beds, and level off the rest of the yard - Laying down the anti-weed paper - Digging the trench for the brick to lay flat on - Placing 56 bricks exactly where I wanted them Stage 2: (to come in a few weeks... thanks to this lovely month, I need to wait for another paycheck) - soil from the bricks back to the fence - planting flowers and other girly stuff (I am contracting out to a female friend of mine) - small chipped rocks to fill from the bricks forward - stepping rocks to create a path forward and to each side... Pics of stage 1 so far: (from R to L) |

If you're planning to put soil behind those "walls" as it appears you are, I suggest you put something like a paving slab against the wooden fence. Otherwise, in a year or so you'll be replacing a rotten fence. Plastic sheeting won't work. The UV will kill it very quickly.
