Bank tellers make mistakes all the time.
My GF went to go buy a new car and was going to pay cash. She transferred $10,000 from one account to the one she was going to get a cashiers check made from. Long story short, we check the funds the night before we were going to go to the dealer to get the car and it said the deposit was only for $1,000 not $10,000. Funny thing was, even the digital scan of the check showed it said $10,000 on it. I'm just surprised it took so long for them to correct the mistake in your case.
