I love the looks of the Audi; hell, I was set on buying the 2.0t Quattro A4 until about 3 weeks prior to ordering it. I could never get comfortable in the Audi's seats, and finally went across the street to check out the e90 (I had always assumed BMW's were too pricey for my bank account). IMO...(going off looks; cause honestly... that's what first draws you to a car) A3 > 1 Series A4 = E90 A5 > E92 A6 < 5 Series A8 > 7 Series TT < Z4

Platform sharing isn't a "coincidence". It's how big manufacturers save/make money and this trick has been in the book for decades. If you truly believe an Audi is a VW, then a Lambo is also an Audi, a Ferrari is also a Fiat, a Aston Martin is also a Ford/Jaguar... |

About if I believe an Audi is a VW… well they not just share platform is more than that. If you see an original car part from VW Group you will see VW, Audi and Skoda branches, in the same part, that reveal they development their cars together, the major differences are aesthetic, but again they are fantastic cars. About Ferrari they have complete independence from FIAT Group for creative and car development and you will not see the FIAT branch on a Ferrari part Last edited by jorgex; 09-17-2006 at 04:51 PM.. |

It is true that Audi and VW shared platforms. Of the new cars coming out now, they are going away from that. The new A4 (B7) has it's own platform as does the Passat.
Most of the "sportier Audi's" S cars, RS cars, are starting to show components from the Lamborghini. If I recall correctly the S8 has a detuned version of the Lamborghini V10. As for the pics at the top of this topic. Those are not spyshots. They are photochops. I agree those pics have been out for a while. I do think BMW and Audi are very comparable. The only difference is that most, not all people, buy BMW's because of the name. I am talking from experience in NYC, most people that I know that have bought a BMW say they bought it because it's a BMW. No other reason. It's more of a status symbol. B7 A4 < E90 I like the rear of the A4 much better than the E90 and E92 A6 > E60 A8 > 7 series Don't really care for the A3 or 1-series.. I am 6'5" too small for me. HA!

IF that is the A4 final version it is a great model!
Im sure BMW will cook up a new bumper and tail for year 4 to combat it. The Latest A4 made strides on the E46 but the E90 kicked it to the curb. Expect the new A4 to againt pull a bit closer. Quattros are nice, Audis are great. Love the BMWs AND the Audis. IM sure Benz will be back too. The next C class looks similar. Who wins??? The consumer! |

I flip flop between Audi and BMW with every car I buy (usually every year to 16mo). I like Audis better as an everyday car, but I love BMW handling.
If Audi quits making their cars so nose heavy *and* continues to reproportion the torque bias toward the rear *and* makes significantly more room in the back seat, I'll probably be jonesin for a 2008 A4. I liked my 03 A4 interior a hell of a lot better than my e90's ... the look, style and quality of materials was much higher than the e90. But I couldn't get over the nose plow understeer and the backseat was too small for child seats. Add to that, the Audi dealer here in town treats me about 11ty billion times better than the BMW dealer and Audi becomes a compelling arguement. |

A6 is definitely better looking than the 5 series. To me, 5 series for your wife, A6 for the husband. M5 for the weekend. and explain why X5 is "much greater". Audi's 4wd system being superior than the BMW's X-drive, I don't see why X5 is better than the Q7. Look at Audi's TT. with longer body, same engine and everything, but they were still able to reduce the weight of the car than the previous model. BMWs are just getting piggy everyday.

TT's 'technology' is nothing new. aluminum body is integrated by most manufacturers nowdays. Im not comparing TT's lightweight versus Z4. Im talking about the 3 series. We didn't lose any weight, I think we gained some. Perhaps, I doubt Z4 got lighter than Z3? Im not sure. Eitherway, BMW isn't the best for everything. Alot of bimmer fanboys tend to think whatever BMW makes is the benchmark. but hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and I respect that.
