i love how the "governator" is always blamed. budget out of whack, schools suck, everyone ducks and hides, but someone has to man up and deal with the issues.

i usually hate posting in political threads, but work is slow today...

Its truly outrageous, actually borderline criminal that they charge fines like this, but did anyone hear the worst part?

The red light cameras..........

Apparently once CA found out how much money there was to be made from those red light cameras, they actually started shortening the length of the yellow lights in certain areas, then randomly change it back and forth to different lengths so drivers are constantly thrown off, being forced to run red lights due to this money scamming practice.

They even give out red light camera tickets if you dont stop at a red light behind the limit lines, or also if you dont wait at least 3 seconds behind the limit line before turning right on a red, you get a ticket too!

Its despicable

and next up, is the new law they are trying to pass regulating tire pressure.....

Don't blame the Gov... it's the damn legislature that keeps getting voted into office that won't allow cuts and makes STUPID ASS deals with the unions. The Sherrif and Firemen have some UNBELIEVABLE pension plans, not the mention the disability for things like hypertension.

None of those fines are what they say they are. Once you come to pay some other fees get added ontop.

Its only suppose to be for 2 years, then the tax, and all the other crap comes back down, but as you all know, once it goes up in the tax'ing world, it never comes down.

Pretty steep fines, but then again we have some drivers who apparently believe they are above the law and drive like idiots. Open your wallet if that is how you drive!

Traffic Tickets Fines (01/06/2010)

Violation Total Fine Due
========= ==============
VC 22350 $214

VC 22349
Unsafe Speed,
1 to 15 miles
over the limit.

VC 22350 $328

VC 22349
Unsafe Speed,
16 to 25 miles
over the limit.

Virginia has moving violation pricing that can compete with Cali's new Robin Hood pricing.

"Unsafe Speed": Is one "safe" that abides by the posted speed limit?

Myths die hard. No matter how slow one goes, there is no speed at which point one is "safe" in a physical sense although the safety aspect is certainly relevant in the sense that one is "safe" from being ticketed.

I'm glad I'm back in Texas after spending 4 years in CA. Although I loved my time in the Bay Area, county and state government sucks! It took me over 2 years to get a CA driver's license, I couldn't take my modded Camaro SS to CA, and there's no 93 octane fuel!

Here’s an example of how messed up things are in CA: my girlfriend’s mother was sued by some transit authority in Orange County since my girlfriend’s father “caused” a tollway to be shut down for 2 hours and the OC transit authority wanted 2 hours of lost revenue. The reason the tollway was shut down for 2 hours was because my girlfriend’s father died in an auto accident. Incidentally, the transit authority lost their case, but not before causing much anguish to a family that lost a loved one.

To call California dysfunctional is a mild understatement.
